He's leaving because we're a complete ****-up of a club at the moment and he sees a better future at Newcastle, who'll almost certainly go straight back up. Can't really blame him.
I don't dispute the reasons for leaving us, I just don't think this is the best move for him. If he's our standout player he could get a move to a top 10 club in Jan. It's not like he's 23, he can't afford to waste a year.
The performance Diame put in away at Man City in the cup showed he could mix it with the best players in the Premier league. We were robbed with his injuries last season and was looking forward to seeing his impact this - I thought he could be the difference between 18-20th place and 17th. Coupled with a full season of Snodgrass, an improved Hernandez and the unknown quantity of Odabajo, I still thought we had a chance, not much of one but a chance. If this goes through however...
There were flashes at Forest as well that his swagger was back. Surely another Premier League team would be in for him if they can get him for £3million!
He's in the prem! On a cracking wage I can imagine! It's a long season in the championship! There's 3 reasons to not go!
Is that as certain as them avoiding relegation? Tough league this year - Benitez has no experience of this division.
Yes he was but how many other games did he play to that level? Diame can be our greatest asset but he can also be a passenger and therefore our greatest liability. Don't want to see him go though and certainly not for peanuts.
I would of said yes in today's market around the 10m mark , there getting a right steal , will we ever get any positive news
Taking of the City specs, only £6-8m tops. He's 29, had a nasty injury and been completely inconsistent.
I'm guessing that after today/tomorrow all interviews are done and dusted. To get the better options on that list you have to sell the club to them. To entice them, Eeyore would have promised them funds to spend to build on top of a strong core. Selling our best player for next to nothing would certainly raise alarm bells. Phelan's odds shortened yet??
I normally agree with much you write but GLP.. but with respect get a grip.. You can play in a great stadium in front of 50k fans and another 10k fans away. Training facilitIes are mint. They'll match his wages. They'll win nearly every week. He'll get chance to attack and show his skill and not have to defend. He'll be lauded as a great and he is. Great manager who will encourage him to do what he does... ITS A NO BRAINER FOR HIM...
It really is a royal mess , why would any manager want it ? Would these two ****ing idiots really pump more money into something they aim to sell in a matter of weeks ? Guess hopefully we soon find out if phelan gets the job it's either through a lack of interest or a lack of ambition or even both , so much for the focus being on player recruitment were about to let another leave !!!
