@Jurgen yeah like I said my opinion may change as the games get more difficult but I don't think so, he reads the game very well and can use the ball, if he's got a voice and can organise In going to be very happy.
Can only see Sakho Matip starting pairing. Klavan has looked solid which is positive as it means we have a back up for LCB. We badly need a RCB because I don't think Lovren is good enough, Matip is a good option but not sure about starting and Gomez is young. Even with the injuries and options, I hope we still bring in a starting RCB. A full back who can play both flanks would be extremely useful as well.
After sahkos issues? At the start only lovern and klavan might be fit. Not sure about matip. Sahko will miss start. So far nobody has seen the 6 foot 1 inch klavan up against english defences.. We will see when the going gets rough.
Lovren WILL start. I am certain. He has been solid under Klopp and thrives in Klopps system. He has even worn the captains band this summer. Even last season Lovren was getting picked over Sakho when Klopp had to choose between them. Lovren also has the bonus of being experience at both right and left CB. The question is who partners Lovren. I expect it to be Matip.
For me the players in our squad who are in the strongest positions ahead of the new season are: Clyne Lovren Can Wejnaldum Mane Coutinho Firmino That is 7 out of 11. The following players I feel are also well placed and should be positive: Klavan Matip Henderson Sturridge Origi From an attacking view I have very little issue with our team. I'm just concerned about LB and our CM's defensive ability. Karius Clyne Lovren Matip Moreno Can Wejnaldum Man Firmino Coutinho Sturridge Subs: Mignolet, Klavan, Milner, Henderson, Grujic, Lallana, Origi.
makes sense to me. very point there is true. Klavan has had a couple games in the middle of the night and may well force his way in but we need to see if he does. Klopp will give him as much chance as anyone else Matip for me is 6'5" and he's come to specifically to give us that aerial power. Klavan doesn't give that. I think matip and klavan together is more likely than lovern/klavan. We will just have to see.
I'd agree with both team and boench right now. I think theres not much to choose between 3/4 players on the pitch and on the bench so... competition. moreno is an open would for sure.
When Caulker joined on loan Klopp spoke about wanted a CB dominant in the air because gegenpress often leads to opponents hitting long balls. Klopp feels it is important we win those long balls in the air and counter. This instantly gives points to Matip.
Decent yes but hes 6 2 or 3. He can be beaten by a lot of forwards. The lumps out there. Matip is a giant.
