League One side Fleetwood Town have appointed Uwe Rosler as their new manager on a two-year deal.

The 47-year-old replaces Steven Pressley, who resigned on Tuesday.

Rosler's last job was as head coach of Leeds United, where he was sacked by chairman Massimo Cellino in October 2015 after just 12 games in charge.

The former East Germany international and Manchester City striker has also led Wigan, Brentford and three Norwegian sides.

"I had several options in the UK and abroad but I was waiting for an opportunity and challenge like this to come along," Rosler told the club website.

"The discussions I had with the owner Andy Pilley and technical director Gretar Steinsson really impressed me and I feel I can put my stamp on Fleetwood Town.

"The club is a huge success story so far and hopefully I can now help write a new chapter."

The Cod Army have had a swift rise up the English football pyramid - in 2005, they were celebrating winning the North West Counties Premier Division in the ninth tier.

Seen as you asked so nicely.

Big plus: A goalkeeper that managed to kick the ball he intended. Created a couple of chances which because we arnt used to it we didn't manage to finish.
    Taylor was very good
Good goal line clearence by Bamba ( I think)
    Roofe looked very good
We scored from a corner, no it's true!
    Vera looks a prospect.

    Minuses:
Midfield is still over run and scared ****less by pace.
The bloke Cellino is trying foist on us was ****.
Mowatt and then Murphy are ****e
Wood won't score more 12 in open play
Dallas should **** off, as usual totally anonymous.

Cellino must have been the dj today....
They played Bob marleys three lil birds pre match....taking the piss..

Oh they also played the who.... My generation... No rock n roll ****e was heard.

    I didn't see anyone Chinese!

Conclusion. It could go either way, but there is something to build on.

Well done gents , I think Atalanta won their last pre season game 6-0 , so it must have been a reasonable outing .
Good luck now, when it starts counting .

Evening lads not long back from the game, stuck in car park 2 for an hour trying to get out, agree with what Glory has already put about the team. Thought we looked quite good in points and we have some players that I think could do really well for us Roofe, Sacko and Viera. Mowatt was **** no wonder he wants a new contract. Did well against a team that is in top division in Italy, you could see they had some skills but we held our own. Think we could do quite well this season if we can keep that up and Bamba even had a good game shock horror. Only problem is we go to sleep sometimes and it can be costly.

Now then Elland. How you doing? Been around just haven't posted for a while had a lot on with work and the little one. Thought Green played well and made a big difference saved a good shot towards the end and just looked a class apart from Silvestri. Not saying he's fantastic as he has his issues but think he will improve us

YeaH, I'm good thanks. Not much to report. Given Greens experience, he should be able to hide his weaknesses...

Yeah hoping this will be our season, or at least one where we give a good account of ourselves. Looking forward to next Sunday now.

If keepers make mistakes they don't get hidden.

Time for my version. A must for any insomniacs .....

Green All round, slightly better than Silvestri. Did ok. Had a couple of howlers - dropped the ball at his first corner, and shanked the ball out for a throw-in at the 18yd mark when he meant to kick it upfield. Honestly believe Silvestri could have saved the goal against us, but haven't had the benefit of a replay, so might well be talking pish. Again, as Glory would say! :D He did make some excellent saves, but wouldn't call them world class, like I've read elsewhere. Most impressive thing for me is that I heard him often & I sit at the halfway line! He most certainly communicates well with his defence.
Trialist Did ok, got booked รก la Berardi & probably would have got a red if he was on for the second half. Monk commented that he did well. My concern is two-fold: 1. We already have an excellent RB, and a very good backup. Why a 3rd RB? and 2. Do we really need to pay an unnecessary wage to a 32yo that needs a trial? A trial at 32?
Bamba The usual Bamba turned up. Unfortunately. I squealed like a terrified girl every time he got the ball. Messi he is not, but he is clearly too big & angry for anyone to tell him that. :D Seriously, he was making his usual mistakes. He did clear off the line, but (again, without the benefit of a replay) I think if he'd have done his job right in the first place, it wouldn't have been necessary.
Bartley Can't fault him. Did everything you'd like him to do & was always there when required. Don't know anything about him, so not sure if this is his normal game. Hope so!
Taylor Won't bore you with (further) overuse of words - he was excellent as usual.
Diagouraga I've seen him criticised elsewhere, but I thought he did a great job - a solid DM. Shut people down, blocked, intercepted & tackled well, & played the simple pass. Completely unruffled.
Viera Quite brilliant today. Didn't surprise me, having watched him with the U21s. Played DM today, but is capable of more & showed it when he did go forward. Was spraying the ball about superbly, and has an eye for the killer pass. He was wonderfully dirty barstewardish on a regular basis. Some nice tricks too. Out-Botaka'd Botaka. One word of warning - he's young. Very young. He may well blow hot & cold. If he doesn't, we don't need Bridcutt. Always believed Phillips could fill Bridcutt's boots anyway. Now we seem to have 2.
Dallas Same type of display as most of last season. In fact we discussed it on her the other day on here. Didn't get forward much at all, but covered every blade & played a defensive role on the wing. If that was what the manager asked of him, then fine. If not, and this is to be the norm, then his days are numbered, surely.
Roofe Oh boy! What a prospect. Was not flummoxed by playing at ER. Screaming pace, wonderful skills, not afraid to shoot, and like Viera, happy to leave studs imbedded. Who needs Cook?
Mowatt Apparently he's played well to date. Didn't today. Worst player in the team & AWOL for most of the match. I personally feel he's at his best playing in the hole behind 2 strikers. We played with 1. He might have a long wait!
Wood Surprised me a bit. Pleasantly, I might add. Won more headers today than he did in the whole of last season. A few came of the pointy bit, right enough! Very involved, and seems to have had some tuition in playing up front on his own. Perhaps he just had better support than last season? Who knows. He's never claimed to be a target man, and I remember Evans saying that he wasn't one.. But that's Evans & 2 other managers now that seem to think he should be played on his own. I believe we may see the best of this guy when he finds a regular partner in a 2 up front.

    Subs:
    Coyle
(for Trialist, 45m) I'm a bit biased about this lad. I loved him playing for the U21s & predicted his breakthrough. I didn't see him put a foot wrong today, but I might not be the guy to do a fair assessment of him. No doubt in my mind that he pissed all over the trialist, but that's perhaps a bit unfair on the trialist as it's a new team, new system, & new country for him.
Sacko (for Dallas, 45m) Very disappointed in him. Perhaps I had listened too much to the hype. I think he only got 2 crosses in. The first, I honestly believe he bottled it. l think he should have ran at the goal & had a shooting chance. Instead, he went to the byline & didn't even get that right. He had time to wait on more options in the box, but rushed the cross. Second cross was rushed too, IMO. He didn't look a team player. He left Coyle exposed. Viera would go screaming past him to help out Coyle. He looked detached & drifted out of the game. TBH, I didn't even think he was that quick. Definitely not the finished article. Needs schooling & his arse kicked.
Grimes (for Mowatt, 62m) Very disappointing, IMO. Lightweight, & got knocked off the ball most of the times he was challenged. Wasn't particularly dangerous, or a threat on goal. TBH, he looked like a little boy lost.
Phillips (for Diagouraga, 62m) Seamless takeover from Dave. Didn't put a foot wrong, and surprised my by taking the corner that we scored from. Another string to his bow! Was interesting to see him play alongside Viera in the DM roles. Did very well for the 20 mins they were on together.
Antonsson (for Wood, 71m) Didn't get the chance to shine. Can't realistically assess him.
Murphy (for Viera, 82m) Was Murphy. Simple as. Did ok. TBH, didn't have too much time to establish himself.
Botaka (for Roofe, 82m) Nowt special, but like Murphy, no time to make a showing really.

    Atalanta
This team are no mugs. The poorer aspects of our display were often caused by them rather than our own incompetence, so we shouldn't be too hard on the team..
Tactics Apparently we played 4-2-3-1. You'd never guess it. We discussed it through the match & guessed it was 4-4-1-1 for the majority of the game. Yes, guessed. Couldn't work it out.
Disappointments One in particular. I would have liked to see Tyler Denton get a run out at LB. I don't think he's ready for the first team yet, but if Taylor goes on the last day of the window, as many expect, we're in big trouble at LB!
