... we'll have to disagree... Albrighton, Schlupp and Demarai Gray would all have been in front of him ... Lloyd couldn't defend to save his life ... and with Mahrez already in the team Ranieri could not have afforded to have another such luxury, given the style of play we favoured...
Lloyd was far from a luxury - him and schlupp as a combo made the left side one of the most solid I've seen. Ah yes but sorry I meant the season before that (still clinging on to the win being 'this' season!) when Albrighton couldn't get a game, schlupp wasn't a winger and we couldn't win and were screaming for a lm if I remember right
West Brom are preparing a second bid for Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp, 23, after the Foxes rejected an offer of £9m. (Leicester Mercury)
"Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor is in demand this morning! The Sun are reporting that West Brom will try to sign Taylor from the Championship club. Meanwhile, Burnley are leading the chase for the 22-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror." Hopefully this means they have given up on Schlupp!
£11m apparently. Would like him to stay but he is not first choice so he might say he wants to move - we have Bart as cover for left winger but don't have anyone else for LB though.
He is also a RM option and we need him in the squad. He will have spells of first choice in some positions to - personally I want him to start LM on Saturday out of our fully fit squad
Wouldn't be that surprised if he left- we have competition in that area and if it's a choice between selling Schlupp and Mahrez I know who I would choose. That said, I love Schlupp, he's a real entertainer when he comes on, and adds a lot of character to this squad. Plus I like to see players come through the academy. He really made a difference at the end of the season, and I'm just sad he missed a lot of the season through injury. I think at this stage in his career he need to go somewhere he'll play every week, in the same position. Maybe let him go but put a cheeky buy-back clause? We'd start being a massive club if we did that!
... I'm a Schlupp fan - plus I think Ranieri really likes him and his versatility ... be really surprised if we would sell such a good young prospect tbh ... why would we?
Schlupp is competing with Albrighton & Gray as LM and Fuchs & Chilwell as LB. At RM we have Mahrez, Bart & Albrighton. Can see him staying and being first choice for the cups but unfortunately can also see him leaving.
SSN app saying hes not in the squad for tomorrow... make of that what you will. Report also suggests that its £12m cash, no add-ons. With so many wingers we could afford to let him go, its not like it leaves us short of young prospect wingers either with Kaputzka and Gray.
I hope he stays. Academy product and very versatile plus what about the home grown rules for champions league?
Sky reckon he will sign for West Brom on Monday We could have done with him today Its a bad move to sell him IMO
If he thinks he can get playing time at West Brom you can't blame him for going, will wish him the very best. He made a real difference in the couple of games where Jamie Vardy was suspended last season, which could have really derailed our title hopes, so I'll always think of him fondly for that.
The owners and John Rudkin have stepped in and told Schlupp he isnt leaving and rejected West Brom's £12M offer Good move but we cant keep sending mixed signals as he will now feel he was treated badly
