Mamadou Sakho faces an uncertain future at Liverpool after being sent home from their pre-season tour of America.
The France international will arrive back in the UK on Tuesday after manager Jurgen Klopp took the decision to cut short his stay in the States.
Sakho had been receiving treatment on an Achilles injury, which will rule him out of the start of the Premier League season.
However, the ECHO understands that concerns had been raised about the 26-year-old's attitude around the club's training camp in California and that's prompted his swift return to the UK.
Sakho was booked on the same overnight flight to Heathrow as left-back Brad Smith, who is en route to Bournemouth to undergo a medical ahead of completing a £6million move.
Liverpool confirmed that the former Paris Saint-Germain captain had flown home but declined to comment on the reasons behind the decision.
Sakho will continue to have treatment at Melwood while the Reds complete their US tour commitments with matches against Chelsea, AC Milan and Roma over the coming week.

Despite being injured, Sakho was included in the travelling party to the States as Klopp sought to foster team spirit ahead of the new campaign.
However, the fact that he's heading home so quickly is a clear indication that something has gone awry.
Lucas Leiva and Joe Gomez are also injured and won't feature on the tour but they are staying with the squad following Sakho's departure.
Liverpool fly to Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Wednesday night's first tour match against Chelsea at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
It's been a turbulent time for Sakho, who was cleared of a doping violation by UEFA earlier this month.
The governing body's control, ethics and disciplinary body dismissed the case against him - some three months after accusing him of failing a drugs test.
Sakho, who hasn't played since April 20, missed out on the Europa League final with Liverpool and Euro 2016 with France after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) alleged that he had taken a prohibited substance in a ‘fat burner’.

there is definitely something going on there.

The official line was there was no comment but it seems to me pearce did get some unofficial nods from someone and is being a good inhouse journo by not giving specifics but he knows whats gone on.

"Despite being injured, Sakho was included in the travelling party to the States as Klopp sought to foster team spirit ahead of the new campaign.
However, the fact that he's heading home so quickly is a clear indication that something has gone awry."

Then its made clear other injured players are not being sent home.

So...... obviously up to a point all was fairly ok, he was being the mad **** he normally is and we were treated to his alcatraz antics... but if klopp feels he is bad for "team spirit" then this is pretty serious.

Somethings gone on, be it a fight or just him goofing off or being late or being a bad influence on younger players who knows.

Was this an early indication that all was not well between Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and defender Mamadou Sakho during the Reds tour of the USA?
The French defender appeared in this apparently light-hearted video, shot on the former prison island of Alcatraz, just hours after the touring Reds party had touched down in America.
Sakho interrupted an interview his manager was delivering to ask "How long do you think you can live here?"
Klopp's reply was laced with his trademark laugh, but in light of last night's decision the words have added resonance.

"Actually I don't have to think about it. You should think about it," said Klopp. "Because only one of us came late last night, for departure in Liverpool. It was not me, it was you by the way."
Sakho has since been sent home following concerns about his attitude during the tour.
If Sakho was last to arrive at the airport, he is the first to go home following Klopp's decision.

Ibe never recovered, he felt the wrath for not being ready to go on the pitch. I think that in life sometimes you have to adapt Sakho needs to get in line and knuckle down, stop ****ing about as it's simply a serious business to Klopp. Get yourself sorted with the right attitude or you'll be gone.

He just learned the hardway who the boss is and will only take so much ****ing around

Sakho clearly likes a laugh but remember when he apparently stormed out when Rodgers didnt pick him? Was it for the Derby?

Anyway, I like Sakho but will always side with Klopp, if he felt the need to send him home then hopefully its a wake up call. He calls the shots

Its a serious business to anyone on 70k a week or 90k.... or should be like.

when you've a meeting time. be on time.

Klopp doing what I'm sure we all think the club needs. The club under roy evans was terrible for this and despite what the then players say they had enough to go on and win a lot more as it was us or utd but we saw them piss about. Utd were ultra professional under ferguson and cleaned up.

compare to under rafa.. won 2 trophies.. got a cl final. those who responded like kuyt got their rewards. those like rieiria and benayuon basically got nothing.

same under rogers... I am sure he was a push about.

Klopp... doing what we need i think. tough rules. really fun to play for when you do the right things.. hard when not. I hope its a sign of whats to come.

Sounds like an attitude problem. Question is, is there a way back for him?

I would always side with the manager, whoever he is. He's in charge and if players don't accept that then the discipline necessary for a successful team breaks down. Once the tail starts wagging the dog then it's always going to end badly.

Klopp seems like he's always ready to have a laugh with the lads, but there is a line drawn - and he won't accept anyone crossing it. <ok>

    Yeah thats what I meant

Klopp has an air of authority and its definitely whats needed

Anyway we're all guesstimating at the minute, I know other injured players have stayed but maybe Klopp thought Sakho was better off here for his recovery? No? No me neither!

No bones about it behind Klopp's amiable smiley public face there is a man made of solid ****ing steel

Being late for the plane is all on Sakho but the thing about him interrupting that interview (and I'm presuming a bit here) is that it was for the LFC Youtube channel and the website so on some level the producers or whoever controls and produces that content have set him up for the fall there giving him the Go-Pro on a stick, getting him to goof around and record it. Surely they ask Klopp first due to seniority to check he's down with that. Maybe it was all Sakho and he's done this off his own back and sent the footage to people he knows but smh I can't see that

Maybe the tempting fatty American food was proving too much for Sakho and he needed fat pills again.

Fair play to Klopp, they are there to work, get in shape for the season not goof around.
He's set down a marker, "I don't care who you are, cult hero or not, **** around, then you can **** off!"
He (Sakho) won't be late again and won't mess about again, if so, he'll be gone!
I like Sakho, but I was a Liverpool fan long before him and long after him...
Want to act the clown, do so on your own time and as long as its not detrimental to the image of LFC..
