I live in the sticks, not a black face for miles around, no Eastern Europeans either.......most of the locals voted Ukip and Leave at the referendum based on immigration.

    Go figure.

So you and tobes live in areas inhabited by mostly racist bigots?............
How ****ing hilarious is that!...... you should both move to the real world.Or maybe
you both like the lifestyle of the bigot.

It's a statistical fact that rural places have a higher UKIP vote than more suburban or inner city areas. Point in example - Cardiff had very little UKIP votes during the Assembly elections but places like the Llyn Peninsula and the North coast had quite a lot. One of the reasons is that they read so much Islamphobia and so many scare stories about immigrants taking over the country 'swarming in' and claiming all the benefits, but because they hardly ever meet anyone who isn't similar to them (parts of Wales, like where I was born - Llanelli, are shockingly undiverse, about 97% white) so they've got no experiences to disprove the lies.

But Asians, Middle Easterns and Blacks have been in this country longer than any of us have been alive - so that's not an excuse! Even less of an excuse when you're talking about rural people

Xenophobic definitely, racist possibly. I don't see what's 'hilarious' about it like.

Why should two people who blatantly not bigots move just because of their neighbours opinions? Or are you now generalising that all rural people are bigots?

I thought this thread was about stories that made people smile at the end of the news.

That's a huge generalisation! As is the fact that rural people are generally rich! Much in the same way as Muslims are all terrorists, Blacks aren't British and Leavers are all racist. You see the slippery slope you go down making generalisations and prejudices on whole groups of people?

No, I'm a scouser. I've lived in various Cities over the years, but prefer the rural lifestyle and would never move back to one now.

What a desperately muddled and naive comment.

Lots of people that move out of the cities are accused of racism. The not on my doorstep, get me away
from it sort.A bit like all the old Londoners that have moved "away from it all"

Moving to the 'real world' unless I like the 'lifestyle of the bigot' is a pathetically naive comment.
