Sorry I can't copy article from my phone, but there are two notable omissions in his list of people that he thanks And he calls us Hull City fans I think, not done variation of the name and nickname
Dear Hull City supporters, It was with a heavy heart that I ended my time as Hull City manager on Friday. The four years I spent at the club were among the happiest times of my managerial career. The first promotion out of the Championship, survival in the Premier League and then the FA Cup final and European football were all fantastic times for me, my staff and my players. The relegation back to the Championship was hard to take but we all stuck together to win promotion through the play-off final at Wembley in May. If someone had told me the success we've had when I was appointed, I would have told them to give their head a bang. It wouldn't have seemed possible. As a group, we should all be proud of what we achieved. please log in to view this image FIRST PROMOTION: George Boyd runs to Steve Bruce after a crucial goal at Huddersfield. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last four years and you have played a big part in that. It is rare for a manager to have the backing I've had from fans. It's been unwavering. I was made welcome from the minute I walked in through the door and even during the times we struggled, I felt the majority of supporters understood how difficult it was for a club the size of Hull City to reach, and then stay in, the Premier League. One of the abiding memories was the reaction of supporters at the KCOM Stadium the day we were relegated on the final day of the 2014-15 season. They applauded us off the pitch when you'd expect them to have been ripping the roof off. please log in to view this image TRUST: A banner supporting Steve Bruce. I think supporters appreciated we'd had a difficult season losing players like Robert Snodgrass and Mo Diame and, sadly, we came up short. Thankfully, we were able to put that right with promotion at the first attempt last season. My biggest regret is having to walk away but it was a decision I had to make for the sake of the club. The last 12 months have been very tough and it felt like the right step for the club to move forward in a different direction and with someone else in charge. I desperately wanted to make it work this summer and be a Premier League manager again but, sadly, it wasn't to be. Nevertheless, I've left Hull City with some fantastic memories that I'll always cherish, including just eight weeks ago in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. please log in to view this image SECOND PROMOTION: Steve Bruce with Hull City players at Wembley. I must also thank all the players and staff who have worked with me in the last four years. The role of a manager can be lonely but the support I've had has been second to none. Special appreciation goes to honorary president Peter Chapman, who played a part in bringing me to the club in 2012. He's worked tirelessly over the last four years and I'm thoroughly thankful. Best wishes for the new season, Steve Bruce.
Note to the Allams Here's a lesson in how to communicate effectively. Hold your head up high Steve..... As for Ehab, hold yours in front of a mirror for a long time....
I questioned a lot of decisions he made last season. But trying to manage a team with those two numpties at the helm must be nigh on impossible. Bruce had earnt the right to be backed and to manage the team this season. Good luck Bruce, never thought we'd have a manager of your calibre at our club. You can't argue with the facts 2 promotions to the PL, FA Cup Final, Europa League and Play Off Winners. You also signed some of the best players I have seen pull on a City shirt.
That letter oozes class. It would have been so easy for him to lay into the numpties running the club but he didn't. He does get the point across without having to actually say it by not mentioning them at all and instead using the well thought out 'for the sake of the club' comment.
Was obvious things weren't right last season so it makes the achievement of promotion an even better one. Not crying into my pillow like some as a lot of Bruces tactics have been questionable for the last two years despite all the 'our best manager' stuff but he must have been under tremendous pressure with the idiot owners. I think he would have kept us up and had one last decent season for the club given the right backing.
I think Brucie is pulling his words as his son is still with City. Expect more one day when that changes...As he walked there should be no gagging order and freedom of speech.....bring on that day
Not necessarily if money changed hands as part of the ' mutual consent ' bit . I still don't get the ' sake of the club ' element to this , unless it's something like no 'new players until you leave '.
Yeah just seen on another thread that possible cash paid....Who knows what the Allams are thinking re funding, I noticed like others that he does not thank at this moment the allams, not even the old man who apparently he got on with. "for the sake of the club" is the bit he left floating...Could also mean working with Lord Ehab was impossible going forward..
