I don't think it's true, but with the money in modern day football I wouldn't be surprised.

I think that by encouraging more of OUR youth team members generally into the playing squad, it does negate the need for a lot of transfer activity and on that basis I am not unduly worried at this point. If we could kep Brady and Klose, then we have the backbone of a pretty decent side and Canos has been a potentially superb acquisition. I am sure we will be fine.

    Norwich 2 - 1 Ruban Kazan
    TEAM: Ruddy 7; Pinto 7, Turner 5 (Ramsay 49), Klose 8, Whittaker 7; Mulumbu 7, Howson 7 (Thompson 64), Naismith 8; Canos 7 (Odjidja-Ofoe 45), Andreu 6, Jerome 7

Turner sent off for 2 yellows, neither of which looked worthy of a yellow. Actually he was replaced by Ramsay who moved to LB and Whittaker to CB (where he did a good job).

Very impressed with this match compared to the Dukla Prague one. City played with pace and crisp passing using a 4-3-3 formation against quality opposition. Excellent ball by Whittaker up to Jerome for the first goal. My first glimpse of Canos and he looked very lively with excellent movement and good ball control. He also tracked back very effectively when the ball was lost and looks very promising indeed. Jerome worked hard up front and took his goal well. Naismith was very lively with good touches and passing and scored the second goal after exchanging passes with Jerome and then turning his man to drive a crisp shot into the far corner with the Keeper stranded at the near post. Howson and Mulumbu also worked hard throughout and the latter was quite a dominant presence throughout. Except when they were caught by a razor-sharp breakaway in the first half, the defence looked solid and in control. Ruddy had no chance with the goal, but otherwise looked solid as well.

Thanks for that post Cromer and it does seem as though AN is beginning to realise where he went wrong last season. I'm slowly changing my views re trying to sign McCormack, as if he dowa chip in with 15-20 goals, it will be 'money well spent!!'

Good summary Rick, thank you. Sounds promising and I like the fact that Naismith is starting to become a key figure. After his disappointing introduction at the end of last term he needs to convince a few of the CR faithful and it looks like he is up to the challenge.

I have a feeling that quite a few of our posters on here will be eating humble pie over Naismith, and knowing them as well as I do, I just know they will do it with good grace!

Why's that Dave ? Naismith has just scored in a friendly, perhaps if he bangs in 8-10 in the league before Xmas I might get off the useless git's back but not before <ok>

Although I didn't think Naismith was as bad as some make out, he had a few good games (imo), but admittedly I was expecting more. Yes we overspent on him, that's not his fault and doesn't make him a bad footballer, I really hope he'll have a good season.

He's a goal-scoring winger that can also play as a striker, has a good goals per game ratio so could be good for us!

Apparently a move to Stoke fell through in Jan as he couldn't get a work permit. Not sure why and if the reasons are now resolved.

There was a story of a class player maybe going to wolves the other week. Can't remember who, but the story was it would be easier to get a work permit for a Championship club.

I don't know if that's true, and if so, why. But if true, that could be a factor in the reason he could come to us, when he failed to move to Stoke.

He was supposed to keep us up, he failed.

I'm sure all will be forgiven if he scores as many as Johnson did and we get promoted but if he had delivered with goals we needed last season, we wouldn't be in the Championship.

I do like Naismith. I was one who was happy with the purchase. It didn't work. I thought it would. I'm sure some Prem sides would still add him to their squad. If he doesn't cut it this season. I'd be so shocked, and agree that he was a terrible buy. He seems so suited to a Championship campaign though.

I'd have thought when he came here he had aspirations of a second PL campaign in the yellow shirt?
I know you go up as a squad and down as a squad, but for that price tag <yikes> I think everyone expected - and was maybe entitled to expect a little more from him last season?

Can't really blame just one person, the whole team failed.

Naismith is the easy target because of how much we spent, but our poor defence was more to blame than him. If he has another poor (full) season with us again then I might start to think he isn't a player for us, but in the mean time I'm willing to hope he come good for us.
