Sounds more entertaining than most of last season was Im a little gutted theres no footage of this incident, id be very curious to see it! Brentford and QPR this week, i shall be at both and hoping to see an improvement (as much as you can ever judge by friendlies!)
So we drew 1-1 with Brentford. Any one here go to the match? Did it look promising? Any stand out players? Any not up to required standard? Anything?
I went tonight, impressed with how we looked actually. Southwell took his goal very well (as simple as it was), fingers crossed for more from him. As for the trialists both CBs (especially the one in the first half) looked pretty good, the trialist RM (believed to be Nick Freeman) looked good especially in the second half and hit th4e post in the build up to the goal. The trialist LM was an interesting one - seemed to have a bit of pace but some strange decision making, coudl easily be a new grant/PCH but could just as easily be a morias/banton. Not enough for either keeper to do to really judge them fairly I think the squads come together nicely, we need a cb (one of the trialists i suspect) and 2 gks but other than that the other positions arent essential - the new RM seemed to be able to play cm well enough, but if the new LM is an out-and-out winger im not convinced we need him, unless he is spectacular Onto the QPR friendly now, and more of the same would be appreciated!
Yeh and we've got you for a Christmas present as well Ron....bleddy ell' it never rains but it pours does it.
It was the same against Le Havre Jose. Le Havre are a French top tier side (give or take 1 goal) yet neither of our goalies had much to do. Must say something about the rest of the team. Hopefully we will come against an attacking QPR side that will test our goalies. Although nothing to go on, I think my money would be on the one that played in the first half against Le Havre.
Apparently we won 12 - 0 tonight........ I was worried that Elburton Primary wasn't up to much but bleddy ell' twelve goals. Watch out league 2 is all I can say.
Oh come on Ron you'd never stand up that long. You go one up and lay down for the next 80 minutes......
Another relativly solid display against QPR, without looking spectacular. Seemed to lack the cutting edge, however ingram made a couple of good saves from Wood and from a corner (Thompson got the final touch i think). The trialist CB from the second half against brentford played again, and looked pretty good. Interesting to see ainsworth play 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 again, i think the 4-3-3 seemed to suit the team better. Whilst this is a friendly and essentially like a training exercise, i feel relatively confident with the season based on today and the brentford game
Quote from Gareth "It's exciting for me. I'm liking what I see, and I'm quietly confident that with our best team out, we can compete in League Two.” Well that's lucky. I think that's where we are
Keepers had very little to do - however the first half keeper (believed to be scott brown, previously of cheltenham) just seemed to look more solid of the two with his general manner and control. Still very little to test either keeper from the friendlies ive seen, which is probably why they are both still trialists!
