Went to Lightwater valley on a school outing about 46 years ago, York about 48 years ago, Edinburgh zoo 50 years ago(have a photo of me and a elephant) . Beamish a couple of years back £15 ticket to use all year, will be going back again when they finish the recent building jobs. London zoo IS the one to visit, 5 hours to walk around !

I tried to hike up Ingleborough peak with the bairn in his buggy, as he's too big for his papoosse thing. Defeated twice....despite trying from 2 different sides. no wonder really: bloody big rocky gorges en-route about 2 mile up.

    • Knitsley to Lanchester
    • Derwent walk from Shotley to Rowlands Gill
    • Weardale strolls round Stanhope and Hamsterley
All canny walks whilst 'back home' for the week.

Shields-Souter-Seaburn-then SOL to get the bairn his first kit......
Fish and chips at Minchellas, Seaburn, were fooking great. As was the ice cream. Shields beaches and prom were in fantastic shape, too.

When I was a kid, we'd frequently get taken to walk up Roseberry Topping, or the Cleveland Hills. My dad loved it round that way. I might take a walk up there next time I'm back in the North.
