Yep i was at them both, each of them rank in my top 20 ever games I reckon. Cardiff was especially good, seem to recall they were unbeaten at home in over a year and our coach got pelted with rocks after the game.

I remembered it as Crewe being 0-1 up but I could easily be wrong.

I was particularly happy to see the police that day after the game.

Think they'd just come up from the bottom division.

Their centre forward (Blake?) was pretty decent as was Chris Lee's 25 yarder.

I remember them chanting USA at us throughout the game - convinced Wales would qualify.

I'm sure we took the lead.

They were a great footballing side at the time.

Rocky & Glynn Hodges signed at the same time I believe, met them both as they sat in the away end with us at Palace in the League cup tie ( 1-2 defeat and won on away gls). Both nice and approachable guys and Rocky was a great player as we all recognise, another took far to early. Hodges had a decent left foot to be fair and was quite skilful but looked a bit porky at times.

Agree with previous posters regarding Rocky oozing class and being head and shoulders above the rest. Real shame, taken far too early.

Actually, when I think of Rocastle, I tend to hear his name being said by Brian Moore.

“And it’s in there!!! David Rocastle the scorer” or summat like that.

We battered them that day and for me only one player stood out for them and if I remember right he played wing and caused us all sorts of problems ..... Jason Price.

I don't remember what the games were, I think he stood out being so complete of a player though, just looking back on Soccerbase & still don't remember which ones.
The 4-3 v Cambridge was a Deano hat trick & he scored a hat trick again the following game, & was up for a record of 3 hat tricks in a row, but didn't get it.
Don't remember any more than that. I think the only reason I remember Cambridge was because we were losing 3 times & ended up winning 4-3. Humberside used to do the announcement of a goal with a recorded bit that was, "It's a GOAL" lots of cheering & then I'd be, is it us, Scunny or the Grimboys?
I really can't wait to get my own place where I can quickly flick through my old programmes & not second guess myself!
