It was only an XI team so not surprising as Fleet are not a bad side.

As HOADIE said it was a Gills XI but was quiet evident is that most of the guys that played aren't ready for the 1st team yet. Other things I think we can assume is that Flitney stills looks like he'll star as no.1 although Gazza won't have done himself any harm, King will be on the bench, which in itself is a great thing and much better than the last 2 seasons. As for the strikers, were they supported enough by the midfield? I don't think we'll see any of them starting. Think we'll see the expected 451 on Saturday. Only questions are how what will the midfield be? Who will start in Goal? and who will be right back?

We'll know more when Saturday comes.

Oh just a little after thought, with Scally at the game it could be a bit of a benefit us not scoring cos no doubt he'll know that with every passing day the need for another good forward is greater. But I do believe that they are working on this.

Flitney will start in goal even though i would prefer GAzza. Weston should play off kedwell to support him as he has looked very isolated upfront and needs support. with lee and whelpdale on the two wings with montrose in the middle with jack payne (who can get back and support the defence) Im not sure who will play right back, i personally would play fuller as i think he is good and is always trying and has looked good in the friendlies.

I've not seen Lee playing on the wing mentioned too much on the forums or in general conversations. Could be a stop gap until Birchall is fit. I'd much rather see Rooney given a fair crack with Lee & Payne holding the centre.

the good thing about Lee is he can play anywhere in midfield if he has too. so he may to cover or spiller could play out wide. i would like to see rooney play quite a bit this season but think hes a super sub to bring on 60th minute to bring a bit of energy to the team. i want to see jackman playing left back instead of Martin

Reading the above posts, apart from just one striker,it's apparent we have an abundance of riches throughout the team, far better than we've had for many a year.I wouldn't want Hess's job of who to select for Saturday, especially if we get another striker in.

Can't say I've seen Flitney, but was at Fleet game last night, and Gazza flapped at a good few balls into the box. Didn't look very convincing.
