Theresa May has said she would be prepared to push the nuclear button to protect the UK - even if it would cause mass fatalities. The Prime Minister made the declaration as she laid out the case for renewing Trident during a Commons debate, ahead of a crucial vote by MPs later this evening. George Kerevan, an MP for the SNP, asked Mrs May: "Can we cut to the chase? Is she personally prepared to authorise a nuclear strike that can kill a hundred thousand innocent men, women and children?" She replied: "Yes - and I have to say to you, the whole point of a deterrent is that our enemies need to know that we would be prepared to." ..........
Apparently £31 billion to keep. I'm for keeping but has anybody actually said what we would do with that little lumper if the votes no? How many NHS hospitals could that build? How many schools? How many social affordable houses? Just curious.
I saw that on the telly. Could have another iron lady in our midst haha. Bigger balls than most of the fellas! What's the point of having a deterrent if we tell the world we wouldnt use it?..everyone is entitled to their opinions and i respect them but surely national security is THE number 1 priority...especially in this day and age.
Sorry but I could never press a button knowing that I would end up in a situation that millions of men woman and children would die. To be fair a don't think she would either. But I suppose it is not knowing that is the deterrent
You'd have to be a ****ing idiot to give up the biggest stick in the playground when the whole damn school is suffering from a mass psychosis and half a dozen other kids in the playground have big bloody sticks as well. May was totally right to say YES!, she'd hit the button. Our enemies need to know we're taking them with us if they attack. That's the only thing that's ever gonna stop them hitting us en-masse. Would Russia still be in Ukraine if Ukraine had the same button we have?
We can't uninvent them mate. They're here, we have them, others have them, we have to be grown up about it. We can't be idealist like Corbyn who hopes everyone's going to smoke the peace pipe and make daisy chains on Barnes Park. The world has never been more unstable than it is now. I fear for my kids future. They're of an age when they'll be having kids soon. I want them to live long lives. We can't do that unless we're prepared to stand in front of our own house, on our own threshold, with a big ****ing baseball bat and say, no further.
I always have had this view mate..I would love to see the end of all nuclear weapons, but I don't want us to get rid while other dangerous nations have them.
Agree with that to an extent. But what happens if some kids try to break into your car. You beat them to death with your big bat? Cos when the massive big bat is all you have, there's not a lot of flexibility in your response...
