For anyone who hasn't seen it, Demba Ba suffered a potentially career-ending leg break in China over the weekend...

Not even sure how it happened, watched the footage and it just looked like a kick in the back of the leg.

I saw this yesterday. That third picture - ****ing hideously awful.

They are blaming bladed boots sticking in the turf when he was tackled.

I am utterly convinced these bladed studs have been the catalyst for more knee/ligament/cruciate/bone breakages etc. The boots just don't give way in the earth when pushed sideways.

I really hope he makes a full recovery but that's an absolute shocker of a leg break.

Don't reckon he'll play again, but we didn't need to see the 3rd picture, it's gratuitous voyeurism.

Back in the 60's players would have got up and carried on playing. Then shrugged it off with a fag and a pint at full time.

    Exactly.

In rugby he'd have got 10 mins in the sin bin for acting like a tart.

    Rightly so imo

Another case of marketing people putting profit before common sense. There was nothing wrong with 'normal' studs. Next I'll bet they'll convince players to wear hideously garish boots and a different colour on each foot......oh hang on....

Definitely some blade shaped studs on the bottom of the boot.

"This is a really bad injury but I can overcome it. I won't call time on my career, that's for sure," said Ba, 31.

"The season here ends in November and the new one starts in March. I'll do my best to return in time for the season after that."
