First pre-season game against Bohemian FC in Dublin this afternoon. 6-0 win with 6 different scorers (Ritchie 15, Mitrovic 30 pen, Gayle 52, Thauvin 55, Aarons 59, Wijnaldum 75). Goals can be seen on The Mag web site: http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/07/newcastle-hit-6-v-bohemian-fc-watch-goals-newcastle-united/ Interestingly, Lascelles was captain for most of the game. It remains to be seen whether he will get the gig permanently though.
It's Matchhhhhhhh Dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Yessssssssssssss. Get innnnnnnnnnnnn. What a goal, wow. Easy, easy, easy, easy. 5-0, 5-0, 5-0. We want si...yessssssssssssss. What a game. http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/07/newcastle-hit-6-v-bohemian-fc-watch-goals-newcastle-united/
Was at the game. Bit of a farce really. Bohs were playing the night before so had no real team out. The club only interested in cashing in on the big crowd. You learn nothing from games like these but Aarons and Ritchie were impressive.
we could have got beat like Celtic so a win i a win for me. Would we have preferred a\ defeat? #IRWT.
Matz Sels (Karl Darlow 46); Jamie Sterry (Daryl Janmaat 46), Chancel Mbemba (Isaac Hayden 46), Jamaal Lascelles (c) (Jesus Gamez 76), Vurnon Anita (Georginio Wijnaldum 69); Henri Saivet (Cheick Tiote 76), Jack Colback (Jonjo Shelvey 46); Matt Ritchie (Florian Thauvin 46), Yoan Gouffran (Ayoze Perez 49), Rolando Aarons (Paul Dummett 61); Aleksandar Mitrovic (Dwight Gayle 46) So the team was: Sels; Sterry, Mbemba, Lascelles, Anita; Saivet, Colback, Ritchie, Gouffran, Aarons; Mitrovic then: Darlow; Dummett, Janmaat, Hayden, Gamez; Wijnaldum, Tiote, Shelvey, Thauvin; Perez, Gayle There's a strong first team and some decent cover there, honestly think it was good enough to maintain Premiership survival if it had been managed properly from the start. With all the attention Sissoko and Wijnaldum have been getting (and the assumption Janmaat is going) it will be interesting to see what becomes of Thauvin, Saivet, Gouffran, Anita and Perez. I think all 5 of them could do a good job in the Championship and it may be the making of them in a similar vein to Gutierrez, Colo, Enrique last time around.
It will feel like no time at all, USPGA Golf in 10 days too ( the Open today was ****img immense!!), then the Olympics and then Fulham. Be here in a flash. MINT!!
Seen this on SSN, that Aarons goal was decent, even though the opposition were ****, still... tekkers where it's due.
Aarons scores another pre-season worldie. Done it last year, did it the year before. I remember him being like 18 and ghosting past 3 Shalke players and crossing it for a goal. Bicycle kick in the US, bangers in New Zeland/Aus. Every summer he absolutely storms it, I then get excited thinking he could make the englad squad if he has a good year, then just as inevitble as a siem de jong injury, Rolando disapears and isnt heard of until the following summer. I will not be getting my hopes up again!
Attendance of 5,698 (including 2,252 Newcastle United fans). Not bad support for a friendly away in mid-July.
