At the start of a new season I take time to look back at last year and wonder which greedy rats will leave which supposedly sinking ship. My prime target is a player who made 40 appearances in the Premiership last season, and won a medal for finishing first, and then decided his lot in life was not satisfactory despite going to the Euros in the summer. Now forgive me for being so disrespectful of these clowns who are ruining the overall appearance of the game by showing their own individual team faithful that they never really gave a rat's arse about their previous employers or their supporters. So my advice to all these greedy ungrateful players is to wish them a speedy departure, and please don't stop at the bank on your way out the door, and to be careful who you insult on the way up your personal over inflated self opinion ladder because you could encounter the same people on your way to oblivion. Oh, and please don't post images of your diamond encrusted hot tub when you get to your new destination because I don't give a skunk's ass about you and your dreams. Now, I don't know about you but I would be more than happy with a Premier League Champions medal and a place in the Champions League next season, but then again my brain doesn't quite work the same way as these players who are never satisfied, and their quench for money will never be sated until they have run out of troughs at which to dine. Rant over.
Blimey Mike don't you ever go on. Leicester got a fair whack out of it as well. It's not like he wound down his contract and they were left with nothing. They can strengthen their squad with that sort of money And Who wouldn't go for more wages for doing the same job somewhere else?
I know but it still ticks me off that they always expect something better but by my definition he had it made in the shade. Who would swap that for a possible bench warming nightmare but good luck to him anyway and I'll stop moaning - yeah right.
Maybe he is a realist who appreciates that Leicester are unlikely to challenge for the title again this season, and he wishes to spend his whole career challenging for the biggest honours. And lets face it, Kante is a world class player who belongs with a club that can give him the stage to do that. And that club is not Leicester, whatever the fairy tale that came true last season. For Premiership footballers its not always about money, not when you already have wads of cash
I'm amazed that Vardy has elected to stay with Leicester. I think they'll be lucky to make the top 8 this season.
As Rickster says, it isn't always about the money although no doubt, double the wages (or whatever it was) is always an attractive proposition. Kante is 25 so he has no doubt asked himself where is he more likely to be more involved in challenging for the title and European honours. One season with Leicester or many with Chelsea...? You only get one life so you have to make the most of it and I would argue that any player who is worth their salt and ambitious (as he has demonstrated he is) will want to make the most of their career so why not aspire to play at the highest level available...? Just like the rest of us, he has evaluated his own worth and maximised his stock, if he stayed with Leicester and they finish mid table and out of Europe, he will have "wasted" a year. Unlike most of us who have to work for 50+ years, a players career is a relatively short affair and I therefore have no problem with them creating a nest egg for the rest of their life. Sport science is a lot better these days but there are still a significant number of players who finish their careers with some form of permanent injury through playing on when they shouldn't have (Tommy Smith always comes to mind) so I have no issue with it. As for loyalty, playing for a football team is a job, just like any other, albeit with much better pay. The only club that a player should be loyal to, other than as a good employee, is the club that they have supported from boyhood...
Chelsea finished tenth last year, somebody should have informed him his 'ambition' has meant he will 'waste a year' at Chelsea! Whereas staying at Leicester for one more year would have enabled this 'ambitious' young man the chance to put himself in the shopfront of the highest stage in club football. Maybe it is just the wages then eh?
I don't know why there is a thread regarding Kante, don't think I've read anything negative from him. Let's be honest as much as we've enjoyed Leicester showing all clubs that the minnows can sometimes play in the ocean. But their success was down to Chelsea, Man City having a bad season by their standards and it would of not been possible if one of them was on form. But the sequence of events brought them the title. Kante knows that after a good season his stock is high and is prepared to wait that year until Chelsea function again as I bet Chelsea's odds are greatly reduced to Leicesters to get to the champions league and possibly win the prem again this season. He was offered good money to stay at Leicester 100k a week and saw an oppotunity to play for one of the bigger teams. I can't recall him protesting to not play unless sold so in my opinion he wants to try his luck with Chelsea, will he be a first teamer I think he will.
or the long term, at least until Real come calling Whatever, that is what is meant by the word 'professional' i.e. its their living and they will take the best option. And who the hell wouldn't ? Kante doesn't hale from Leicester
it is always a sequence of events that deliver the end product/result 1 good or bad result on the day can change a lot ... ... Murray had an easier final! the money pool in the prem is getting deeper .. Leicester could have a cash flow of over £300 million this season! City? well they would be happy if it reached £***m ! and a whole load of of poor events struck Newcastle, Norwich, Villa Derby!
