We need a manager that plays the team in the way He prepared them in friendlies etc not turn up put people in positions not familiar with and not have a defined way of playing.
Pick the best players for the team/system not just try and fit in the 'best' players.
I haven't got clue who manager would be but we've tried so called successful managers Capello, Erickson and it hasn't worked.

At least Erickson got us to quarter finals. We can't even manage that now.

Steve Bruce is hoping to be approached about the England job, bet he is a 0-0 draw against Grimsby should help his cause!
I don't think it looks good to say you're hoping to be approached. I would feel depressed if he was our next manager.

I think it's looking like Big Sam, his attention to detail is exceptional and given decent quality players he might actually surprise a few people. Any of the players who think they can f*ck him about will get a serious shock to their over-inflated egos.

As this wait wears on I have been coming around to thinking Harry Redknapp with Eddie Howe as his coach and successor might be a good fit, we'll see...

Agree, Big Sam might just shake them up but my thoughts about Harry were that he couldn't do it alone, when he was previously in the frame four years ago he was going to make Brendan Rodgers his assistant and coach, so he knows the way he wants to play and Eddie Howe is a similar type of coach to Rodgers. Harry would do the man-management which is his forte...

Why is Sam Allardyce known as 'Big Sam?' He's 1.91m (6'3'')tall, which is the same height as Arsène Wenger. Maybe we should get him in as England manager and we can call him 'Big Arsè.'

Absolutely. You can call Adel Taarabt as your first witness if you want to make that bold case. Whatever skills he may have had in that department, he'd lost them by the time he came to us

Is this the joke thread? Can't believe Arry, Sam, Brendan or Howe are being used in the same sentance as England Manager.

Any dislike of Allardyce is snobbery imo. Relatively successful, experienced manager and English. Players seem to like him.

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to who should be the next manager of England.

Fact is, we need a person who is the Master of Motivation, a Guru of Deception perhaps.
Ladies and gentlemen, the answer is obvious ......................

Slightly worried that if Howe is in the frame then Bournemouth won't take Caulker and Onouha for £15m...

While I'm at it... if you could choose any manager from around the world, would Big Sam be your first choice? Seriously... would he be your first choice?

Because if not... why on earth would he be first choice for the England job. Is it a relegation issue? Is money the problem? Is there a limited pool of names?

I still don't get the 'It must be an Englishman' angle.... why? Do any of these players struggle playing for foreign manager in the PL? Does the manager need to understand the 'English game' when we are playing international football? It seems a bit archaic to assume that a modern day International manager's first requirement should be to be the same nationality as all of his players. Especially since the pool we have to choose from is so poor.

Also... the ex-pros with zero managerial experience throwing their hats into the ring... yes Rio... I'm looking at you... just no.
