.. he may get in the French 'squad' ... but he's competing with Matuidi, Pogba, Sissoko, etc for a place in the French 'team' ...if Sissoko moves as expected, they will all be playing in the Champions League next season ... as will another potential candidate ... Nampalys Mendy of Leicester City ... for Kante to give them all 12 month's start in terms of the CL might be shooting himself in the derriere (see how I used some French there? .. pretty cool eh?)
Kante was always going to be the most likely to leave. Kante gave us a year and won the league Mahrez and Vardy's journey has been much much more I trust Steve Walsh to find another gem and we still to find out what we have with Nampalys Mendy and Daniel Amartey
Axel Witsel rumours would be a joke. He wouldnt pass a medical as Wasyl would probably kill him as soon as he arrived at the training ground
N'Golo Kante deal from Leicester City to Chelsea understood to have been completed for £30m. More to come @TeleFootball
Via Rob Tanner Just landed to the news on Kante. Unfortunately, it is true and a deal could be conpleted in the next few days. Sad but #LCFC move on
Jim White @Sky Can confirm Kante medical completed in West London. Paperwork for £30m move to @ChelseaFC to be done at Cobham tonight Still think it's a bit of an odd choice. Its not unexpected for him to be going & if it was Real, PSG or another top European club playing ChampionsLeague football I'd understand but to Chelsea, now?!
I hope £30m is because we had to accept it as that is an absolute steal for a player of his ability. Look at what other players are going for and that is an utter joke
Very disappointing. I think the Scottish expression 'despicable wee ****e' is appropriate here. Hopefully in 12 months time we will be wondering what all the fuss was about. On a brighter note, at least he has funded our 2 big signings of the summer.
So no sooner is Kante out the door Mahrez 'allegedly' wants out. I just hope that the reason Vardy stayed was having some agreement with Mahrez. I think I said the other day that the journo's keeping busy about Kante was keeping them quiet about Mahrez so no surprise they have started
We move on ... Mendy was our first choice for the position and we now have him ....Ranieri commented that Mahrez was more than happy and is staying ... no reason to doubt that ... Whilst emotions are going to be raw and it feels like a betrayal ... the little man did help us to an achievement that will never be forgotten ... So the double over Chelsea next season then
True. Hard luck for you, but a top signing for us. Vardy & Mahrez exploits were possible because of the immense contribution from Kante. Same like Matic's performance helped, Hazard et al for us the season before.
You have yourself the greatest defensive midfielder in the world right now - congratulations. I wish him well and after what he did for us last year in our TITLE WINNING SEASON i really hope everyone else does too. What is disappointing though isn't him leaving but the manner in which it has appeared like he cannot get out the door quick enough but that may just be his agent
Agents and a short span of high life footballers have, perhaps. 50% increase in weekly wages is not to be ignored. Slight on your hierarchy's part not to pay him comparable wages. He could have done a Vardy then.
Different situations, Kante didn't really want to come to us in the first place, we were a stepping stone
I thought we had offered comparable terms but if he wants to go not much can be done to stop it. At the end of the day we have to have a ceiling on what we are prepared to pay. Even with TV money and CL we still don't have the income streams of the Chelsea's and Man U's so cant offer all the title winning squad 100k each a week. There is lots of talk of the Leicester family and I'm sure that camaraderie will be upset with one or two massive earners compared to the rest. Sad to see him go but we are the champs and we will be fine.
He was one of the top 5 best tacklers/interceptors when he played in France. Mad tbh, though with his hesitation last summer im not surprised. Chelsea should see that as a bargain tbf. Shocked that Real, PSG, Barca, Byern ... even Guardiola or Jose showed no interest. I thank him for his immense performances last year, but I honestly hope he doesn't get a warm reception on his return, hes gone there because of money or the big club stature, neither show any respect for us or our club.
