Not an apology, just pointing out that I'm 24 and nearly quarter of a century later Liverpool still don't have a title
Conversation had dipped a bit so back to talking sense. Agree with all the above. Kante was amazing and while I haven't given up hope he will stay with us we have plenty of options. We havent seen the best of Amartey yet or anything of Mendy or James. Ranieri is not stupid and will set us up to win games regardless of the line up
... I'm still hoping he will stay tbh ... he will be aware of what both Vardy and Mahrez are doing and also that Dimitri Payet has committed to West Ham for next season after his 'break through' season etc ..... That said - if he does go - and whilst I still feel he was our player of the season - his type of player is a lot easier to replace than either a mercurial talent like Mahrez or a 20 goal a season striker like Vardy ... we have Mendy on board already... Life goes on ... no single player is bigger than the club. Forza Claudio!
According to some French journalist, a 36M euro (so basically £35M) deal is agreed and Kante is going to Chelsea for a medical soon. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...-News-Medical-Done-Deal-Signing-Gossip-Latest
Some apparently reliable sources where Chelsea are concerned saying it's done. I think it's different to Vardy as Vardy does seem to love the club as much as a modern day player can. Kante from the moment he was reluctant to sign last year to looking like leaving now seems much more in it for himself and we were a mere stepping stone. I can't forgive a player who only gives us a year and walks out regardless of what he did in that year
John ... all players are in it fo themselves mate ... if we hadn't matched / beaten Arsenal's financial package then Vards would have gone .. ... and some very 'relaible sources' where Arsenal were concerned had Vardy in the team photo and kit
It is appearing on the more reliable transfer sites - Chelsea agree €36m fee with Leicester to sign N'Golo Kante. He will sign a 5 year contract. Medical in the next 48 hours.
Thing is all of those sites are just re-reporting one French journalist http://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/kante-a-chelsea-c-est-fait-info-rmc-sport-1006448.html Will wait for someone else to independently confirm but I had resigned myself to losing him anyway but hoped it would be for more tbh.
.. . whilst it now seems like this will happen I am a little bemused tbh... he surely wants to cement his place in the French team for the next world cup which would seem more likely if he plays in the Champions League (he didn't get back in the starting line-up from the QFonwards) ... it won't be about money as we are matching any attempts to poach ... so why to Chelsea at this point? ... if he really does go I hope it becomes a bidding war with some of the European clubs that are in the CL next season ...
This time last year everyone thought we would struggle due to Cambiasso leaving but we replaced him and moved on. We will do the same if Kante goes. Mendy might have already replaced him.
I know, I just meant as modern players go. Many players wouldn't have delayed to wait for the new deal to be given and just gone. For the record I believe Mahrez would struggle to leave us unless it was impossible not to financially. Kante probably doesn't have the same connection with the squad not being part of promotion/the great escape etc
I just don't get this move. Arsenal - yes, Man City - yes, PSG, Real, Barca, Bayern - all yes. But Chelsea. Now they are obviously a bigger club than Leicester but they have no CL next season and there is definitely no guarantee that they will make top 4 next season (especially given that all the big teams are looking far more competitive than last). I would have hoped that he played one more season at 100K wages and insert a clause in his contract that if we don't make the final of the CL then he can go for £30mill (although he is worth so much more)). Will he be missed - undoubtedly. But our beautiful club showed the whole world that anything is possible and we will take on every club we meet next year in the same way (with or without Kante). LCFC
Exactly. When Cambiasso left I was concerned because we had King and Drinkwater in midfield. King had played a handful of games, but Drinkwater was out of the side and looking severely lacking in confidence. James was injured, but had played ok. We didn't know how good Kanté was going to be, and the same can be said for Mendy. When we were linked with him last summer I actually though Mendy looked the better prospect than Kanté, and he's younger too. We've also signed Amartey who's looked very decent in the spells we've seen of him, and James is still an option. Let's also not forget Gokhan Inler is still here, and could still come good. If we get nearly £30 million for Kanté, we've made £25 million profit for him, and already spent that on a replacement and a highly-rated young forward. The signs are still good even without Kanté, and I'm glad the club have made preparations for him leaving. I'll be sad to see him go, and angry to see him in a Chelsea shirt, but the club will always come first. If he doesn't want to be part of this, then so be it, we're better off without.
Mercury also expressing surprise at Chelsea being preferred destination for N'Golo Kante ... http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/l...8211-reports/story-29516177-detail/story.html
Reports that we may go in for Alex Witsel to replace NK Also lets be honest Kante will get in the French team whether he plays Champions league or not We will keep Vardy and Mahrez....2 out of 3 not bad eh Exciting season ahead for sure.... Cannot wait
