No but then one of the extra refs stood and watched a keeper come 4 yards off his line for a penalty yesterday. They can't get the big decisions right and they can't be arsed to enforce basic rules so it's no surprise it's not picked up on.

    well,well,well.
The ball is initially stationary until it is put into play by being kicked. A stipulation that this kick must be forward was eliminated in a 2016 rules change.[2] The player who has first kicked the ball may not touch it again until it has been touched by another player.

A goal may be scored directly from a kick-off.

great we are playing Iceland rather than Portugal, they would have been diving all over the pitch and Ronaldo would have had a field day, they have beat us in all competitions as well 2000, 2004 (and got Rooney sent off) pens, 2006 world cup pens,

New rules you don't need to play the ball forward at kick off
I posted on here a few weeks ago
That you could be one up without the ball been in your half or even touching the ball.

I am pleased to have found this out as it really had me puzzled. Also I am wondering about the Sunderland Newcastle goal. One game when sunderland scored the Newcastle players wanted to kick off whilst the sunderland players were celebrating but one sunderland player got back into his own half to prevent them from doing so. Could they have restarted if there was only the gk? does anyone know?

The kick off is up to the ref. The goal Defoe scored all of the SAFC players were in their own half which is, technically, how the mags were trying to get the ref to kick off (PVA ran into the mags' half to stop it from happening)

The ref is also supposed to use the unwritten rule of common sense for kick off's - i.e. the team has just scored a massive goal and are celebrating - the opposition (Coltwat I think it was) points out that all of the players were in their own half. It's totally up to the ref.

Thanks for that. Mind you I think that Newcastle team that day would have probably missed even if it was eleven versus the gk
