Rob Green is a better keeper now than Silvestri ever will be. It's a good move.

All keepers drop clangers (Green has the odd famous one on his ledger), I thought Silvestri got a bit more flak than deserved and it didn't help his confidence.

That said, I've no problem with keepers parrying and punching as long as they parry away from goal and punch not flap. He didn't always get that right. His kicking and distribution, a large part of the modern game, was woeful. Like I said, don't think Silvestri was as awful as some do... communication with defenders is a two way st, and he had the calamity brothers playing in front of him which didn't help anyone. He's a decent lad, I wish him well wherever he goes.

Silvestri might make a few saves in a season green wouldn't, but with better positioning and judgement and fewer disasters, my bet is green would more than make up for that, even if he is a few years passed his best.

Green will not be as flashy but a million times more effective. I'm still not sure he'll be good enough having sat a year out

Hello fellow sufferers, have to say Monk fills me with positivity ... it's clear he won't take any prisoners and we can expect to see a hard working Leeds United this season ... don't understand the Silvestri debate as it seems certain that he will be leaving the moment a club is found for him, so I expect Cellino is speaking to lots of Italian clubs to get a deal done ... I trust Monk to get a few more players in to strengthen the areas needed, and I'm very much looking forward to this season with much more optimism than I've had for over a decade ... don't think any of us can ever cope with another Hockaday or Evans walking in the Don's shoes

I think positioning is key. Many goalkeepers make eye catching saves because they were out of position for the shot.
