Listening to Freddy, its clear he at least knows what the club means and what it needs, Ashley is clueless.

"Shepherd was a money grabbing leech" Care to explain that comment?

No chance of getting John Hall back? He seemed a decent cove, although his son is a ****er of the worst sort.

Are you kidding? It was him and his son who sold out to Ashley, not Shepherd. FF was seriously ill, in hospital, with a collapsed lung, when Ashley launched his dawn raid, and under Stock Market rules, once Ashley had secured a majority shareholding in the Plc, FF had to sell his shares to him, at the same price the Halls sold their shares for.

Yet the perception is that FF is a money grabbing leech, and SJH is a geordie hero. The mind boggles!

Can anyone explain why we still have the Sir John Hall stand? It's Leazes to me but I would prefer that the Leazes End was given it's name back!

Probably because the stadium wouldn't be be up to the current standard without SJH.

He did a hell of a lot of good to the club to start with but when it floated on the stock exchange; the shareholders became the primary focus and not the fans.

TBH you're getting past the stage where it's any fun. There's usually something daft going down at SJP, but it's getting beyond a joke now.

However, should we whup you 5-1 on the 20th I reserve the right to take as much piss as I can get into the very large barrel I will be acquiring for the purpose ;)

I had many bad things to say about Freddy Shepherd over the years but you could never accuse him of not backing his managers.

Ok, he often employed muppets like Souness & Allardyce but he always backed them with money - mortgaging the club in the process but throwing money at it all the same....<whistle>

Apologies, I didn't actually read all the article, just saw the stuff at the end and figured it took that note throughout. Something like this (2004), this (2006/7) or this (2007/8) would be more appropriate.

Also dont forget him sacking SBR and every other manager.

Also SBR wanted C.Ronaldo. But FFS had never heard of him and bought Viana instead

so .. what did he have to say anyway .. any transcripts about .. I only see some fluffy crap about Barton being a £6Million player and will end up at a top team (which is questionable to be fair) .. did he come out with anything worthwhile?
