He hasnt got the job yet. What will be will be. Its not like he is being poached by another club. Its england. Like the national side or not, its still england. The top job. If that is SA ambition, good luck to him. He is 61 so its now or never for him
Just a bit of honesty for once, something along the lines of....."Sam has returned to England for talks with the FA" rather than hide it behind a smoke screen of Sam has returned to concentrate on transfer dealings. Its not a lot to ask for. On the other hand like Smug has already said, i am pretty much resigned to the fact that Sam will be leaving us unless something remarkable happens, i just don't like the way SAFC deal with things like this and let the fans know by the media rather than tell us first via a club statement.
Has he flown back to Austria now then? I'm not sure if his time is up as Sunderland manager regardless of whether he gets the job or not.
I still haven't got around to renewing my season ticket. If the new manager is Martinez, it won't be getting renewed. I couldn't take 'Poyet football', again.
Pellegrini would be a top shout, but would he get financial backing? Allardyce has said he's frustrated/pissed off with transfer progress. Moyes would be possible, he interviewed for the Blackburn job so he's the obvious one. Martinez doesn't think defenders are needed, the guy's a joke. Maybe somebody completely out of left field, like John O'Shea
Apparently Sunderland "Gave permission" to SA to speak to FA over England manager's job. Would he need 'permission' if he had a release clause in his contract? Maybe you'll be due compensation after all.
The Football Association contacted Sunderland AFC to seek permission to speak with our manager as part of what was supposed to be a confidential discussion process with potential candidates for the position of England manager. At Sam Allardyce’s request, we agreed to this. Sam is very much key to our plans. After what was an extremely challenging season, we are keen to see a period of stability, both on and off the field, and we want him to remain as manager of our football club. The ongoing speculation over Sam’s position is extremely damaging to Sunderland AFC, particularly at this crucial time of the season and we urge the FA to respect the disruption that this process is causing and bring about a swift resolution to the matter.
I hope Big Sam doesn't get the England job but i have a feeling he will. If he does go I would want us go to for Pellegrini, Moyes or Frank DeBoer **** Martinez.

I live in hope that he completely f****d up his interview and when driving out of David Gill's home damaged some expensive garden furniture. When getting out of the car to sort the mess out big Sam then urinated in the garden accidently wetting Gill's cat in the process. The cat ran back into the house and confused by the smell of big Sam went mental knocking over a priceless vase. #livinginhope
Hope the FA know this disruption is very very very expensive. At least it should be if the club has it's head screwed on for once. 35-40 million should be enough to replace him at this very very inconvenient time. I'm serious, they profit from the TV deal too.
How can this be confidential when the whole of the football media are touting him as the favourite to be the next England manager!! The FA and Sunderland football club are a joke if they think these talks were in confidence.
