I just received a music file this week from Marillion (big Marillion fan) They released it because they were going to play it live and didn't want a dodgy youtube bootleg uploading before people who pre-ordered their album got to hear the song. Their new album is out in September and yes I bought the uber special book double CD pre-order at Christmas.

Anyway the lyrics are quite interesting and rather apt after the few weeks we have on this thread. Obviously written before the last couple of weeks but one section is as follows (The song is over 16 minutes):

Remember a time when you thought that you mattered,
Believed in the school song, die for your country - a country that cared for you
    All in it together?
If it ever was more than a lie or some naive romantic notion
    Well, it's all shattered now
    It's all shattered now

    Why is nothing ever true?
    Why is nothing ever true?
    Why is nothing ever true?

Well do you remember a time when you thought you belonged to something more than you?
A country that cared for you
A national anthem you could sing without feeling used or ashamed
You poor sods have only yourselves to blame
    On your knees, peasant
You're living for the New King

Might not be to your taste as its a bit "folky", but check out Reg Meuross and "England Green and England Grey" - very apt lyrics too about modern life in this country.

Your post was just a bunch of ridiculous ranting. No amount of further ranting is going to change that. It just digs you into a deeper hole.

I'm not shouting down views I disagree with. I'm pointing out that your views are poorly thought out, contain no substance, and are filled with logical fallacies.

Which isn't to say that many Remainers don't do the same thing. They are wrong and stupid as well.

As long as it isn't Billy Bragg folky I'm sure I'll get along with it. Long time since I was a young tribal type that only liked it if it was 'eavy metal.

Yes, I agree it was a rant. I could have worded my post better. However, my post does not delve into the depths of political theory, nor does it present itself as a balanced argument, nor is it backed up with references, it was always supposed to be a that, a rant.
I am merely airing my views on one aspect of the Brexit situation as so many millions of people have done. If you don't agree with them, I don’t have a problem with that. However, to call me stupid rocks the boat too much. You're tipping the boat into the insult waters, a place where this thread doesn't need to go. People enjoy this thread because it gives good, honest and interesting political discussion. If you don't like what I post then ignore it, like others have. You don't need to throw insults around.

A Marillion song with "Do you remember?" as a verse opening line....

There's only one tune in my head now and "Chalk hearts melting on a playground wall.."

I think it's enough of the blatant rudeness now, don't you?

I agree. Might be a good time to remind everyone that this thread needs to a place of discussion, not abuse. Those unable to keep it civilised might find that they are unable to post on the politics thread in future. You can be robust and disagree vehemently, but the insults have to stop.

Theresa May will no doubt upset some of the hardcore Conservative members and backbenchers with her policies. However, I think she will put herself in touch with the voters and she'll be good for the Conservative party. From the outset, it seems she is definitely the right choice.

    Marillion?

I think it's enough of the Marillion, frankly :emoticon-0105-wink:. I find their sub Genesis bland estate agents rock more offensive than any verbal punch up myself <cool>.

Was never one of my favourites. I like both the Fish and Hogarth eras but that album was all a bit wishy washy for me. Clutching at Straws is the best Fish album.

Can we have a music thread (insert tongue in cheek emoji)

p.s. the "sub genesis" stuff finished in '87. They have released another 14 albums with a different singer since then.
