Yeah, definitely a once in a lifetime thing, immense to have been there really

I don't mind Raonic and wouldn't have cared if he'd won as Murray isn't exactly my fave but he's a brilliant athlete, such great recovery and consistency, and obviously British which made the whole atmosphere just mental and like you say, amazing to see a Brit win there, soaked it up as it'll be a long time before it happens again once Murray packs his show up

It was great on our side of the stadium as the loudest Murray shouters/supporters were practically right behind me and when he won one big point Murray was like '****ing let's have some then' right at us, waving his arms around to pump the whole stand up, then there was some very bourgeois woman shouting for Raonic getting into a duel with all these very loud Murray blokes, the most polite banter you'll ever hear at a sporting contest, pissed bloke next to me is like she'd better be hot

 

Pity it was a bit one sided there.

Prob the young lad needed another experience in a final to really be ready for this.

 

Definitely, he took the entire first set to get comfortable and shake the nerves off, even by then it was too late for him to really get a foothold in the match as Murray kept coming. It was his first GS final and Murray is a much more complete and mature player. I predicted he'd win in three and there it was. However, it was much tighter than the 3-0 result suggests, the games and even individual points were tightly fought, just Murray had all the answers to the best aspects of Raonic's game - the serve, the volleying, the sometimes huge forehand - and Raonic couldn't figure out or didn't have an alternative

As for the crowd ... a lot of them and I'm talking probably like 80% plus possibly, don't have a ****ing clue about tennis in terms of an understanding of the sport, from talking to a lot of them around me anyway, and they were obviously biased being majority British

 

Deffo. I watched it and really it was just the three service game breaks and being unable to break murray despite several great positions.

He was also a classic big serve and nothing backing it type as he missed too many poirly.

Id be sure you are right a lot of money soent to be seen rather than for the tennis.

I say sir steve redgrave there on tv. Id say hes really a tennis god.

Mind you.... 2 spice girls and frank bruno at the british gp im sure were there to be seen too.

 

I wouldn't say there's nothing backing his absolutely huge serve but he fluffed the key shot at key moments too often, little should be easy volleys in the net or wide, groundstrokes going long due to Murray pressure, first serve fault, very very small margins at that level. He'll win majors in a couple of years

It's all about the show for most people, chinos, boating/deck shoes, fancy hat, quaff the champers, a make-believe world, pretend they know or are in with players having got a giant tennis ball signed once or something

I could see Prince Wiliam and Kate in the Royal box as well as Benedict Cumberbitch and Bradley Cooper, Bjorn Borg, Lendl in the players box, McEnroe in the little tv commentators shelter

And oh ****, that actually reminds me, can't believe I didn't even mention this but I met Jose Mourinho ... he was coming out one of the big entrances to the Centre Court gangways and I practically bumped into him so was like oh **** you're Jose Mourinho and shook his hand, he was in a very cool blue suit and had quite a few suited minders standing off him just monitoring so there was hardly any time

 

It wasn't as one sided as the score line suggests

 

Why on earth did you shake his hand? Should've called him ****coat then told him to **** off.

Serena Williams broke the record for the fastest ever defeat in a Wimbledon semi-final today, beating Elena Vesnina in just 49 minutes
Spectators took to Twitter to voice their disapproval including Sophieandreax who complained: 'Serena Williams' nipples are literally in HD. Like can you put them away. I'm trying to watch the match.'
However, fans of the tennis ace reminded critics they should be focusing on her record breaking achievement, beating Russia's Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-0 in 49 minutes - the fastest ever defeat in a Wimbledon semi-final.
JodyEdwards44 couldn't believe the tone of the discussion. 'How are people talking about noticing Serena Williams through her top. She's a woman but also an athlete. Let her play in peace,' she said.

 

I can see another Brit wining Wimbledon soon enough.

Rewind 10 yrs and henman came close, need to keep investing in the sport though maybe where the problem lies.

I went to a school back in the eighties that had 3 tennis courts and it wasn't pushed on us same as we had a cricket pitch that wasn't either.

Only time we really got to do what we wanted was when we was given a choice in PE. Most of time it was athletics or football. We even had hockey pitch that we used for footie goals lol

Has since been sold off (land) by council, not enough encouragement or probably more to the point finances put into things, but its OK we will all be able to enjoy everything privatised soon enough lol. Well done Torrie ****s
