Hmmmm. What concerns me a tad is the end of last season for Spurs and Kane's paucity of goals for England. I'm not up for a racing start to next season but am happy with Wanyama.

Yes, but in a couple of years time our lack of adventure in the transfer market will be the reason the same players quote for their departure to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, etc. It is in the nature of players to complain, if they are allowed to.

If we sign Goetze and introduce him as a World Cup winner who has played 5 or more seasons in the CL, including a final, then anyone complaining knows what they need to be achieving - outplay this guy and show me what you're worth.

Signing Adebayor was madness. I was amazed when Levy did it but he was and is a special (head)case and I wouldn't like our transfer dealings to be dictated by him or Swiss Tonee's poor signings. This is a new dawn with new people in charge.

Going the Spammer route and parading your money and stupidity for all to see is one thing, buying quality at a realistic price is another. If Maurico Pochettino wants Goetze and it is within our reasonable means, then I'm all for it. If Lamela won't sign a new deal and has to play in Italy, then why not ask for Icardi as a swap? There's nothing wrong in paying for the best and I'd expect a quality dressing to think "**** me, look at these guys. Top quality players. We could win something and I'll get a walloping big bonus and a pay rise." If they don't, then they bloody should do!

I'll just repost this highlight video of Janssen from last season, for anyone that missed it:

The thing that stands out to me is that I think he's right-footed, but I'm not completely sure.
His goals seem to be divided up pretty equally between both feet, with the occasional header thrown in, too.

Is he too similar to play with Kane? Maybe.
I suppose they could be used in a Shearer/Sheringham type pairing, though. Could work.
Can't see it being used from the start of many games, but perhaps as an option.
It'll be nice to actually have some of those.

    I actually think he's a lefty lol.

What I'm starting to see - and this stems from a tweet I saw a week back - is that Poch isn't going for Plan B type players but more a case of shoring up Plan A types. By this I mean, take our first two signings thus far; Wanyama and Janssen. Wanyama is basically another a Dier, a tough tackling midfielder who throws himself about but also understands the aspects of Poch's style in getting the ball forward. Janssen, from videos on the internet, his style, frame, current scoring pedigree as well as age suggests to me that basically he's a Dutch Kane. So when for instance Kane is out of the XI, Janssen steps in and we play exactly the same way, likewise for Dier, when he's out Wanyama comes in and there's no change. Last season when Kane was out, we had to go with Chadli or Son up front which seemed to affect our play, when Dier was out Mason couldn't offer the same defensive instincts, so it seems as if we're bringing in players who are not only going to be challenging for positions but are near enough carbon copies of the players they'll be challenging. Playing them together will be interesting, I presume Wanyama will start alongside Dier for the first four games while Mousa is out so that'll be intriguing to watch and I reckon we'll see a Janssen & Kane partnership for a few games to test how that goes.

£17m - £18.8m have been the quoted figures by BBC and SKY, I reckon maybe it's £17m as a fee and then perhaps the extra £1.8m are performance related add-ons?

I read a quote from him over the weekend saying he has come to play football... either along side Kane or instead of him...not to sit on the bench.
Great attitude to bring into the team imo.

It's good to see he has a bit of physicality to him. Often i feel that and the pace of the game is what causes players time to adjust. Other than that i don't like reading too much into youtube clips

    So NEW STRIKER in.
Give him a full pre-season and hopefully he could front up while Kane recharges his batteries.

    Goetze talk :

The likes of him signing for Spurs is a big statement of intent.
They are not in pension mode, nor would they currently get such wages at Spurs.
The only reason to come is for the intellectual challenges of the PL + taking a
club quite long on the verge, to the next level (PL, CL etc) .

We're too tight to stump up wages+fee for goetze.
If we weren't another, bigger, more wasteful club either here or abroad would blow us out the water.
Unless he's a legitimate (looking at you Keano) boyhood Spurs fan or Poch has some sort of dodgy information to bribe him with i just can't see it happening.

Is Vincent going to change his name by deed poll to NEW STRIKER, so that we can all say we have been after him since he was 11 years old. Anyway Vincent welcome to the top club.

Never mind the post below. I'm behind the times. Great signing, I think.

I don't enjoy being skeptical, but the one thing this picture assures me of is that it was a sunny day when the picture was taken. I'm also reasonably certain the person taking the picture was wearing a blue shirt.
