    It just needs simplifying.

If you have a reliability issue- your driver is not an engineer or technician and they should be talked through the specific issue to avoid a failure

If you tell the driver how they can be quicker drivers through corners- that should be illegal.

Let the drivers drive, but let the pit wall manage reliability.

On a side note, possibly the worst British GP of all time. Absolutely woeful from start to finish. A non-contest, 1 stop trundle.

I agree totally it's a stupid rule..but it's a rule. If they don't act on it this time then they wouldn't be able to act on it at any time...I suggest if they don't they have to scrap it altogether....which if fine with me.... But you can't refuse to act this time then penalize others in future for the same offense. Also the penalty against Vettel was stupid in that he tried to turn the car but the area was so wet the car simply wouldn't turn...which is much different from what Rosberg did in the last race.... The people interpreting the rules seem to be totally inconsistent.

If it takes this long to decide if a rule was broken, how are teams supposed to be able to know what they can and can't say in a split second?

    Silly.

Oh. One other thing. I enjoyed watching Alonso today...which he was in a better car, I think he would have spiced up things. A not so good car but he was definitely in a racing mood.

I wonder if they are taking much longer as it's first time anyone has been in front of stewards for radio communications. What ever their answer it will set a precedent for future radio communications.

Either that, or somebody pulled out the sporting regs handbook and they've lost the will to live.

Agree Dhel, shame we have him in a car that's too far back.

We need Honda so bad right now. Hamilton in a straight fight is miles better than Rosberg, we've established it over three years.

Alonso and Hamilton we know are closely matched, Vettel and Alonso we know are closely matched. Button in fact was close enough to Hamilton on race pace (albeit not in Quali).

We need Honda to launch themselves forward next year for the sport. Might not happen though...

I agree..so if they penalize tehn they need to penalize everyone who does it but if there is no penalty they must surely scrap it... It makes no sense anyway. I agree not telling the driver how to overtake or stuff like that but some of the other technical things that you wouldn't expect the driver to be familiar with ...to stop the advice on those are crap really.

This is all stuff that makes F1 ridiculous though. There was a spell where it seemed that race results were being changed retroactively every race in one way or another. We don't need to go back to that.

The other issue is Lewis in Baku. The team refused to tell him which engine mode to use, as it was against the rules. If it now becomes apparent it was within the rules Lewis will be rightly miffed.
The rule is stupid I think we all agree. While we want the driver to drive the car we don't want them not to be able to sort issues out. By issues I mean if there is a car problem they should be allowed to ask what is best fix.

I think the issue there is Lewis wasn't about to suffer an imminent failure to his car/engine. He was just losing power but it was still going.

We're now officially waiting longer than Austria!

"18:08: When Rosberg was handed a 10-second time penalty and reprimand for his clash with Lewis Hamilton by the stewards in Austria, the time was approximately 6:08pm (BST) - more than three hours after the race.

As we reach that time again at Silverstone, we're still waiting for a decision."

It would be much easier if they just used two dice. One to pick a driver, the other to pick a penalty.

You are right. The point I was badly making was if Nico doesn't get a penalty then there quite a few other drivers that may have finished in better positions had the radio rules been interpreted differently. i.e. Force India may actually have been allowed to tell Chico that his brakes need nursing to get home.
Once again we have FIA creating ambiguous rules that are way to open to interpretation.

Forgot to add, the booing was pathetic, especially just after Lewis said that the British where better than that. Nico handled it well and didn't do anything today to deserve it.

BREAKING: Nico Rosberg handed a 10-second penalty at the #BritishGP

I think that's fair enough if they are then consistent with it, though it's still a terrible rule and needs to be abolished for next season.

Official website now has Nico 3rd, Max 2nd. Just checked again and Nico back to 2nd!!! Weird.
If Nico is demoted to 3rd Lewis will be within 1 point I think?

5 second or 10 second would have the same outcome in terms of position so I think over all in terms of the rules it's about right. What is harsh is the rule being in place in the first place though.

I guess they feel they need to set an example of how it will be if you break this rule, though with having different stewards at each race it won't ever be consistent as different stewards could take a different stance on a different day.
