Looks like this is happening. On Twitter now from a German football reporter.

Has been reported by Danish Newspaper Ekstra Bladet. From what I can gather Hojbjerg is a bit of a darling to the Danish press and is rated more than Christien Erikksen? Let's hope they're right.

As much as I like this policy of buying young players for less money and developing them into top players, I feel it is limiting for as long as we sell them as soon as they develop into a top class player. If we get these players aged 20, help them develop as a footballer and them get to reap the rewards on the pitch then fantastic. But if we just sell as soon as they improve then we are back to square one but with a profit made.

I'm hopeful that our recent form of offering longer contracts points to us doing this. The trouble with 3 years is that they hardly settle and become fantastic, before they are off. Five years may be risky but gives us wriggle room.

Why can't we get a top free? West Ham seem to grab them all! Feghouli will be a good player in my opinion, bit of a shame for Antonio as I think he'll be back to the bench now

Good point. We could always do what we have with VVD and offer and longer and improved contract if they impress in their first season. It is a strategy that has so much potential to lead to success without ridiculous spending, but it is crucial that we get to a point where we don't sell a top player for at least 2/3 seasons.

We can offer them a new deal, and I'm sure with virtually every player who has left we did offer them new deals. We can't force them to sign it however and if a top club has genuine interest then the player will know the sort of money they will be willing to offer them. Call me cynical but I think a large part of the reason for VVD signing an extension was because none of the top teams had expressed too much of an interest atm.

Yeah that's sortve what I mean by offering them an extension after their first season (if they impress). It's unlikely that a big club will come in after just one good year, so if they extend their deal, we can just reject any offers we get from then on until they have 1/2 years left. If we manage to do that with a few good players it may push us to the next level and these players may not want to leave us so quickly.

Done deal according to a few Bayern fans. He started of well but has lost his way. Hopefully can kickstart his career again.

Blimey, he's only 20. His career has hardly even started.

216 pages without anyone even getting close to mentioning the name that the black box has thrown out and Les has signed up. What an ITK lot we are!

No one is 100% ITK, if they were they would either be millionaires or getting paid for their info.

Was just going to post that. I think Matty will want to see how it goes with Puel. He is another player who lost his way under Koeman (or perhaps Koeman's style might be more accurate). I think Targett could be good enough for play for us....too early for him to give up and try elsewhere. On the other hand, what do we know....perhaps Les is telling him at this moment to move on. If that is the case, Newcastle could be a good move.

£5million?! In the current climate, and considering he's English and the fact that he has stood up to the challenge of the Premier League, £50 million :emoticon-0129-call:

Can we please wait a few days before we start the "why can't we get a top free" please? I'm still reeling from the "why can't we sign a top player" requests.... It's tiring me out :)
