Around the end of the Benitez years, with Dalglish as academy ambassador, we brought in a few cheap youngsters from lower leagues. Though none have gone onto success at LFC (Sterling could have) they have proven to be big financial successes. I dont want us to look like a selling club but this is the silver lining and still good business. Shelvey - In £1.5 - Out - £7m - sell on clause approx £2m?. Sterling - In £500k? - Out £49m Ibe - In £500k? - Out £15m - sell on clause being agreed Rafa and Kenny had a good thing going on.
Selling youngsters should be one of the objectives of a successful academy IMO because not all youngsters will be good enough for the club but.theyll be good enough for a small club at a lower level. If they won't make it here, we should be selling for a profit .
Spot on. That's was on of the main reasons for Man Utd's success under Ferguson. A lot of their transfers were funded by academy players being sold on. The thing was because of the class of 92 there was almost a premium placed on players from the Man Utd academy because everyone assumed they would have the same winning mentality instilled in them as the class of 92 did. You only have to look at the PL, even now, to see how many former Man Utd academy players are playing in it. Chester, Welbeck, O'Shea, Brown, Drinkwater, Simpson, Shawcross, Joshua King, Fletcher etc.
Henderson was not cheap, neither was Coates. They also came 2 years later. Danny Wilson is another example from the time.
I think it's Deportivo he's been on loan at, 6 goals and a similar number of assists last season. At his age there will be some interest I would think £7m is not much these days (more in Spain than uk maybe)
Apparently he has just had a solid season. The biggest club linked are Sevilla. He may not be suited to the PL but it sounds like he has began to find himself in La Liga.
Reds boss says decisions will need to be made on players leaving club before new season http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor.../klopp-admits-liverpools-squad-needs-11591704
Southampton FC are in advanced talks with Bayern Munich sign Pierre-Emile Højbjerg for €15m. #FCB #saintsfc Would have loved this guy at Liverpool - big talent who we'll probably sign in a years time.
THE president of the United Arab Emirates might be the secret bidder lining up a move for Liverpool. If it would make Liverpool compete with likes of Chelsea , City, and United. in the transfer market I support the move,
deffo highly rated. at 20 and willing to move (apparently) means he's probably not as spoiled at shaqiri
