I saw the below on the BBC gossip column and wondered what you chaps thought?

Premier League newcomers Swansea are set for a sensational swoop to sign French striker David Trezeguet, who is currently without a club.

My view is that, assuming we don't get another forward in, we could do a lot worse than get him in on a 1 year contract to see how he does (or even pay as you play). We got Kuqui in as a numbers booster so why not a proven world cup winner?

I think his wage demands may be quite high. But he would be a good addition for backup.

The issue is we need 1st team players and unless we sign another forward and more importantly a right winger (as we dont have one) we are in for a bumby ride!

I would say yes. Done well last season with a poor side in la liga. 12 goals in 31 games. Would rather have Bellamy back on loan for a year though as they are the same age.

I'd have him. He's better than our other strikers.

Bellamy coming back would be great on loan for us and we could split his rumoured £75k a week wages 50:50.

Thats the type of player I would have playing off Ba and would slot straight in.

He knows the club and the expectations but would he come back. Plus he is a bit injury prone!

I think he's quite a bit older than Bellamy.

I would say NO to Trezeguet, simply because we need to be focussing on getting a first-team striker, not a past-it player because we can't get anyone else.

He was one of the best players in the league last season after he went there, his goal scoring record was not the best but that was coz he was playing on the left wing.

so we need another striker this season - so lets sign a guy who didnt play upfront in the championship, didnt score many goals in the championship and left us when he didnt want to play on the wing for us and fained injury to get out of playing for us

am i the only one who thinks he burnt his bridges with us?

No to both. Bellamy has a chronic knee problem which requires intensive management, and allowing him to train in his own way. Throw in the fact he is a bit of a knob end and trouble maker, it just doesn't seem worth for those kind of wages. Trezeguet was a fine striker and does a good job still. But is this really the height of our ambitions? To be honest both are non starters because of wages. Mind you, if its one of those or Shefki I'll take them! Good signing for a promoted side like Swansea is Trezeguet. They have a cracking manager, play cracking football so I hope it comes off for them. Would be a big signing for a club like that and could attract others.

Trezuguet and I can remember when all this was fields as far as the eye could see.

Great player in his time but if we're working towards a squad for the future; he doesn't fit the plan any more.
