I think that selection is a good value bet Chelsea. I looked quite closely at the race and made it between Rosie's Premiere and the bottom weight Kristillite who I think is well handicapped. I have gone for the 3yo but will likely have a saver on your selection as well.
A really good days racing (should have started on Tuesday but we'll leave that). The two 2yo maidens throw up some interesting animals (on paper). This used to be the Princess Maiden Stakes and was often targeted by fillies with pretensions to races like the Cheveley Park and later the 1000G. Polygamy (Oaks and 2nd 1000G) won this race from Highclere (1000G and Prix de Diane) for example. In the first division Believable looks bred for this trip being a daughter of Acclamation out of a Cadeaux Genereux mare. Hawana is a War Front filly from the Dansili family. Instigation is a Bated Breath half-sister to Peacock. Manama is by Cape Cross out of a mare from the Infamy (no Kenneth Williams jokes) line. Oh So Terrible is a Cape Blance from the Harzand family (well if you go far enough back), can't help feeling 6f will be a bit sharp for this one, Think I'll go for Hawana but will take a good deal of interest in the running of Instigation at a much longer price. In the second division Bouquet de Flores is the tissue hot favourite and is a daughter of Street Cry out of a mare from the Carlton House family. Easy Victory is a Dubawi filly who is half-sister to Mount Nelson and Monitor Closely, so from the Reference Point family. Glitter Girl is an Invincible Spirit filly from the family of Fairy Footsteps, Welsh Pageant and Royal Palace family. Island in the Sky is a Kodiac filly from the Oath family. Think I'd go for Glitter Girl with an interested eye on the running of Easy Victory. I can only presume Bouquet de Flores is catching pigeons on the gallops. Muntazah interests me in the POW Stakes earlier on the card. By Dubawi he is out of Rumoush who was fancied for the Oaks but could only finish 2nd to Snow Fairy. Rumoush is a Rahy half-sister to Ghanaati and so from the family of Nashwan and Highclere. Muntazah didn't settle at all in the Dante and then got no run in the straight. I thought he'd run at Ascot but this may be a better target for him even though on his best form he needs to find 4-5lbs improvement to beat The Grey Gatsby.
Good possibility of a Johnston/Norton double at Carlisle ( I know, how very predictable of me ) 4.05 Yorkee Mo Sabee ( made all to win Maiden at Ponte in Sep 2015 with SDS on board and has been gelded ) 5.15 Freight Train ( Norton won at Donny on this horse off a higher mark in Oct 2015 ) With all that sound reasoning, both will now be flops. I'll put a few shillings on that double, I think It's never a good idea to look back, but Johnston/Norton had a very useful couple of winners across cards yesterday, so the form is good. Cannot believe Kelvin Hall went in at Kempton, great performance that.
Dettori could be in for a good day today at Newmarket looks to have some decent rides so i've done them in a lucky 63
Funny enough, I thought the same about Hanagan! Then I remembered I don't do Lucky 63's so just did singles and doubles on three of 'em Shabeeb, Muntazah and Taneen are the three I went for plus Arddad in the televised races. And a 33-1 hopeful each way on the Costello mount Medici Bianchiere.
Vimy Ridge runs in the last race at Newmarket today, but didn't there used to be a decent animal with that monniker back in the 60's/70's, or is my memory worse than I thought? One for Bustino there!
Two i like today at newmarket Shabeeb nb- won well last time out , 2nd has won since step up in trip will suit . Mehmas nap - 2nd behind caravaggio at royal ascot looks the best form here . Yard has good record in this race . Good luck and enjoy
There was a Vimy Ridge but ran in the US in the early '60s. You might be thinking of Vimy himself who won the KG&QE Stakes the year before Ribot. Don't think I'm the father of the house am I? I still work for my living. The flare on Cracker 6 has just gone off on Wilton Site. Can you see it Heis? They say each hour it flares it burns £250,000 of money. Must be Brexit.
Is that going report right at Newmarket? Have they had a big umbrella up? Good to Firm! Starting with information received. I am told to back Henry Candy’s Bounce in the 3:45 at HQ. My mate texted to me that it was 8/1 at SkyBet but by the time I read the text it was down to 13/2. Now it is best-priced 15/2 with BetBright. The Bahrain Trophy usually throws up some potential St Leger types and could do this year; however, the favourite Prize Money looks far too obvious stepping up in trip after chasing home subsequent Eclipse winner Hawkbill at Ascot. Whilst the extra three furlongs do not look a problem, his record of seconditis is a concern. Harbour Law takes a drop in trip after a fine second at Ascot whilst Housesofparliament steps up a furlong after finishing fourth there. The biggest problem with all of those is that all that form was on soft ground. Shabeeb, a facile six-length winner on fast ground last time may be the one. Once again, the soft ground form is the question mark against the main contenders in the July Stakes. Ardad won the Windsor Castle Stakes at Ascot easily and has to go close if the easy ground is not a pre-requisite, whilst Norfolk Stakes third Silver Line steps up in trip and could improve. Intelligence Cross lost his maiden tag at the second time of asking and is not here just for the day out. The vote, however, goes to proven fast ground performer MEHMAS, nearest pursuer to impressive Coventry Stakes winner Caravaggio, with Yalta well behind. There are too many imponderables to get involved in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes. The Grey Gatsby is the best horse here but not over this distance, Second Step was never competitive in the Coronation Cup and last year’s victor Big Orange was well beaten behind Exosphere when last seen. Sir Michael Stoute’s colt would be the choice but for his lacklustre showing in the Hardwicke Stakes, where presumably the soft ground was the excuse. The Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at 5:30 poses a fascinating question: does Mark Johnston’s Lumiere actually stay a mile? She went out like a light in the 1000 Guineas and has not been seen since; but on the ratings she is easily the best horse here. John Gosden’s two contenders, Cymric (St James’s Palace) and Crazy Horse (Poulains) were both outpointed by nearly seven lengths last time and drop in grade, whilst many of the others appear to be out of their depth.
Its been dry for the last few days and is pretty warm today QM. Sheikh Faahd won the Newmarket Town Plate, beating local MP Matthew Hancock.
Difficult to understand the SPs in the first. Moore must have had the choice of rides and chose to ride for AOB rather than SMS, yet Platitude was shorter than Housesofparliament. Of course Moore will get it wrong from time to time as he did in the Hardwicke (turning down the AOB ride [2nd] and his stablemate [1st]) but you are probably better off taking the hint in the long run.
