Burnley have had a bid of £2.5m plus add ons accepted for the Icelandic waste-of-space.

One of my least favourite players of the Duchatelet era, not because he was useless (he wasn't) but because he simply couldn't be bothered to try for most of last season.

Not interested in his "11 assists" when he was by far the top earner at Charlton.

I hope JBG discovers some heart, passion and bollox at Burnley- they are currently lacking.

I am really not that bothered by this. Gudmundsson was on cruise control last season. Some people are saying that 2.5 Million and 1 Million in add ons is not enough.

Disagree entirely with that. Probably the most technically able player we have had in 10 years (or at least since Andy Reid). His first season demonstrated tenacious and intelligent play within a decent side; last season he finished top in the assists charts in one of the worst Charlton sides ever. I don't think you can question his effort last year given everything that went on at the club; realistically if there was an issue then that's more indicative of the modern professional footballer as opposed to JBG exclusively.

He brightened up a tough two year period and we may not see a player of his calibre in a Charlton shirt for some time now. £3.5m is a very fair price and I wish him well.

Can't agree with you there Kish. Not doubting JBG's technical ability - although I can't see him doing much in the Premier League as he lacks pace.

But he has a heart the size of a peanut, and his personality is brittle to say the least. How many times did he go missing away from home last season, when for £16,000 a week he should have been grabbing games by the scruff of the neck.

JBG- famous for 11 Assists ..and 11,000 Blockings on Twitter <doh>

Funny how different fans see things so differently. I tried to see JBG hide the way Denis used to but couldn't see it, and once he was moved into the middle by Riga he came into the game far more. A decent player, but no Iniesta. Football really is all about opinions.

Poor coaching was the theme of last Season - and someone of his ilk deserved better.

That said - it's a good deal. It will be a few years before we can sign someone of that quality again.

it's a good deal. we went down and are still able to sell players for £2.5m. if we were rotherham (or anyone based outside london) we'd be lucky to get half a mill.

i never thought he was that good to be honest - used to see jacko scolding him a lot for not tracking back.

Letting your head drop, frequently going AWOL in games, and being a petulant arsehole has nothing to do with coaching.

I observed him getting off the team coach at Fulham last season - blanked the fans/kids as he walked past.

It's very easy to go "awol" when your surrounded by a crock of ****. He was often double teamed on the right and it took till feb/March for someone else to add dress this, move him infield, and where the goals started flowing again. That's every thing to do with coaching. Head dropping - a liberal term in football, but again you can contribute that to poor man management.

I seem to be the only one here who thinks 2.5 millions for a player who did more than just benchwarm in the Euros, and who got further than Wilshire, Kane, Rooney and Hodgeson, is a pretty low estimate up front. While we are a club which seems to always undersell its assets, (Darren Bent apart), I would have hoped to see the 3.5 millions up front, not with a million dependant on Burnley staying up or Johann playing 20+ games. It's not as though they will be short of a couple of quid at Turf Moor nest season.
I'll wish him the best, as usual, and wonder how long we will have to wait to see that level of player in a Charlton shirt next.

The problem is Ken that everyone in football knows that Charlton under Meire are an easy touch/ laughing stock.

Meire goes over quicker than Ronaldo in the penalty box.

She made it clear in Dublin that our so-called first team is little more than a shop window.

QPR have had an offer for Jordan Cousins rejected today. No doubt whatsoever that JC will be following Gudmundsson out of the door quick, followed by Lookman etc.

I thought a few more signings would be made before the fire sale. I'm sure CARD will be watching this with a keen interest.

The cynic in me notices a pattern here- a player leaves for a fee, to be replaced by a freebie/non entity. Stories appear in advance in the SLP

Gudmundsson and possibly Cousins going - but we have taken free agent Lewis Buxton on trial <cheers>

On the day Lookman is sold, Rich Cawley will splash that we are interested in re-signing David Mooney

we'll keep selling till we plug the £7m we lose per year. it'll probably be a lot more than that this year what with only a quater of the customers willing to support this lunatic regime.

success this year will be finishing bottom but without roland and katrien anywhere near our club.

If Roland stays he'll find this is the last season he can raise worthwhile money by asset-stripping- no more assets left to strip.

Wouldn't be so sure. We have a lovely stadium that can be torn apart.

We turned them down? What did they offer? Luncheon vouchers? Trading stamp? Groats? Or a bit of paper with IOU scribbled on the back? Must have been a real stinker if we turned our nosrs up at it. Still, I dare say they'll be back with groats AND luncheon vouchers tomorrow. Adios Jordan.
