I think Wales have deserved this match thread, don't you.? Here we go: v Venue: Parc Olympique Lyonnais Referee: Jonas ErikssonMATCH FACTS Head-to-head The sides have only played three times before - and never in a competitive game. Portugal have won two of the three encounters, with Wales' only win coming in 1951. The only meeting in the last 65 years was a friendly in June 2000. Luis Figo scored the opening goal as Portugal won 3-0 in Chaves. Portugal Portugal have contested six semi-finals at World Cups or European Championships - but their only win came on home soil at Euro 2004, when Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in a 2-1 win against the Dutch. This is the fifth time Portugal have reached the semi-finals of the European Championship. Portugal's last six matches at European Championship finals have ended in draws after 90 minutes - all five at Euro 2016 and their semi-final against Spain at Euro 2012, which they lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Portugal are unbeaten in their 12 competitive fixtures under Fernando Santos (W8, D4), with all eight of their wins coming by a single-goal margin. The shoot-out win against Poland is counted as a draw. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored two goals in 13 knock-out games at major tournaments. He is one shy of equalling Michel Platini's record of nine goals at the finals of the European Championship. Nani has been involved in three of Portugal's six goals at Euro 2016 - two goals and one assist. Portugal have won three of their four penalty shoot-outs at major tournaments. No team has ever won penalty shoot-outs in back-to-back matches at the European Championship. Wales The Welsh have scored 10 goals at Euro 2016. The only British team to score more at a major tournament is England, who netted 11 times at the 1966 World Cup. Only France, with 11 goals, have a better attacking record than Wales at Euro 2016. Wales are the first team to reach the semi-finals on their European Championship debut since Sweden in 1992 (Czech Republic, finalists in 1996, are recognised by Uefa as the successors to Czechoslovakia). This is the first time Wales have reached the semi-final of any Uefa or Fifa tournament - at any level, for men or women. Hal Robson-Kanu has scored two goals from three shots on target at Euro 2016. He has scored as many goals in his last four internationals as in his previous 30. Aaron Ramsey, who misses this match through suspension, has scored or assisted five of the last eight goals scored by Wales (excludes own goals). Gareth Bale has had 14 shots on target at Euro 2016 - more than any other player. If somebody would pop up the teamsheet at some point and TV streams for those who can't watch via normal channels that might be handy. BBC are covering it via Radio 5. ITV on terrestrial TV.
Portugal have reached the semi's without playing well and they are better than that. My heart says Wales 2-1 but my head says that portugal have to have a good game at some point and will win 3-1. i hope not though...
"Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on that sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light." I know it was written for his Father, but hey, he's Welsh and the words are stirring and pretty appropriate from Mr Thomas... COME ON WALES! DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THIS GOOD NIGHT!
Got to love a bit of Dylan Thomas ...... I think a rousing chorus of "Men of Harlech" is called for (off to watch a rerun of "Zulu" ....)
Unfortunately I will be supporting Portugal tonight. Marriage forces that one I'm afraid.................... .......however I shall be supporting Wales in the final......ha, ha.
Really looking forward to tonight's game!! I hope Jose and Cedric have games that they will be proud of, but COME ON WALES
Come on you taffies lets be 'avin you......... Got a tenner on you to reach the final........don't you dare let me down......if you do I'll bring you home! I will, I'll send you straight home!!!! ...........With no trophy........
I want Fonte to win, though it will be good if Wales win....so good either way. Of course, if Portugal don't play Fonte and Cedric...they can jolly well lose because they are idiots (and Ronaldo plays for them).
Today I am Welsh. Iechyd da! Dewch mlaen, Cymru! please log in to view this image That's all I've got please don't speak to me in Welsh.
Oh, is there still football on? I thought it all stopped when we get knocked out because we invented the game, and it's our ball so we've taken it home. Guess I'll have to get a proper phlegmy cough so that I can make welsh sounding noises at the tv tonight
Come on Murray!! *please win quickly as otherwise the wife will be upset when I change channel this evening* #comeonwales
