What's strange is that, if you follow Barton on twitter, he appears the direct opposite of his typecast. He tweets about books, politics (albeit basic), quotes philosophy (again in a basic sense) and seems to have a rounded personality. Prison must have done him some good. I'd say he comes across as the most intelligent footballer on the site. Not that that is hard, what with his competition being Rio 'ooof' Ferdinand and the Neville brothers who behave like two unruly monkeys (except the **** spews from their mouths).
He's actually very clever, when he did his GCSEs he got all 10 that he did. At the time he did them, only 5% of people managed that which means he's pretty clever!
he may be very clever, but the lad has no common sense. In his defence however i bet theres not one person on this board who has shown agreat deal of sense with a few pints inside them. Hes only just coming of age, for free the lad would be a bargain. great cover accross the midfield. With stability and strong charecters around him he may come good. Considering the quality, and i use the word loosly of some of the players weve sighned for a cost, hes got to be worth a punt surely. Ill be suprised if he dosnt end up at a top 6 side
The only reason you can't add Rooney to the list is because he hasn't figured out how to use the site.
You need to have a word with yourselves. The guy is a disgrace. As for tweeting on politics, he only trots out the usual 'Cameron' is a toff stuff, and as they say 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'. As for this outburst, surely if Newcastle were willing to offer Marveaux a deal that we wouldn't, then Barton has some involvement in why his contract situation wasn't settled. There are ways to go about things and this to me proves Barton isn't the reformed character some are so desperate to see him as. I strongly believe in reform and rehabilitation as part of the justice system, but Barton for me continues to prove he doesn't deserve the privilege of playing football, and his chances should have run out. As for the Newcastle situation, Carroll, Nolan and Barton all going/gone, makes me wonder whether someone was worried about a core of outspoken, influential 'lads' having too much sway.
As a Newcastle fan I respect Barton as a player for what he's done for us the last two seasons; he's been one of our very best players and I also respect that he has shown a great deal of restraint given his past, showing that he can turn himself around since prison. But I'm sure I heard he hired a new PR guy right around the time he started up his Twitter page and I wouldn't be considering his excessive NUFC fan flattery, basic political considerations and retweeting of popular Nietzsche quotes anything more than churned out public relations objectives to free him from the 'idiot thug' persona that has plagued him for so long. I don't speak for all Newcastle fans though, some would agree with you that he is an intelligent lad. If he leaves us (which I hope in vain that he doesn't) I don't see how he'd fit into your regular team exactly but I do know that he'd link up with Carroll in a deadly fashion; Barton made Carroll the goal scoring machine he was for us in the first half of last season. My first visit to your board I think by the way, good luck for next season, you lads look like you're up for a hell of a good one.
I'd like you to take that back right now, because you've worded it to make me look like a Man U fan. Fool.
Tottenham and Arsenal for Joey Barton. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...-Twitter-criticism-of-club-article780089.html
