Sandro and Hudd isn't too defensive, true it would be solid but Hudd isn't really a defensive midfielder - more of a deep-lying playmaker.
Exactly, MCM. A holding midfielder alongside a deep-lying, creative player is pretty standard. Liverpool used it to great effect when they had Mascherano and Alonso, for example. It's not a problem anyway, as we're clearly signing about 3,000 players, if the rumours are to be believed. If not, then Modric isn't leaving.
Alot of teams play a two deep lying mids, one passer and one tackler. It allows for 3 midfielders to play high, nearer to the striker. Modric spends a lot of time for us playing quite deep at the moment, anyway.
I`d rather take Barton for free than Parker for £7m - £8m. We dont really need any more midfielders unless we are getting rid of Palacios maybe, I reckon it wouldnt be such a bad deal, sell Palacios (who cant pass a football to a member of his own team) for around £10m and get Barton in for free. This also improves the home grown player stats and Barton is just as good a player as Palacios in my opinion. He may be a bit of a thug and an idiot but he seems to have cleaned up his act lately.
We need one of those ! Nasri, Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey and even Song are usually found lurking around the opposition 18 yd line. Barton would fit right in
I thought that Song was excellent for you as a holding player in the season before last, Piskie. Then he dyed his hair and decided that he needed to get forward more, for some reason. Stupid. At least you don't have to worry about Denilson... being Denilson, any more. What is he?!
Song does go forward too much But Frimpong is a proper DM. If needed we could play them both in the same game. Song and Frimpong playing Ping Pong.
When Song is on Song it's fine. But Frimpong plays the Song role better than Song. So therefore whilst Song isn't Frimpong, Frimpong is a better Song...but you're not wrong.
I like Barton, as a player not a person, similarly to how i now feel about Modric. His performances last season show he's a high quality player and would do a job. If Spurs let him know he isn;t going to start every game but will be an important squad player and he's happy with that, i'd take him in a heartbeat. Let's not forget us Spurs fans feeling towards Gallas last year. Sometimes you have to let the lads to the talking with their feet.
