Soccer???? ****ing hell man...... Really ???

As for being more 'successful' than England ???

Success; an event that accomplishes it's intended purpose

If the Welsh nations intentions were to go further than England then we'll done <applause> ( I don't know if that qualifies for a gold star above your badge like winning a World Cup mind ?!?!). That small minded mentality is probably one of the reasons why you qualify for tournaments less often than a Golden Wedding anniversary comes around. That's half a century by the way :1980_boogie_down:

    1. How many knockout games have you won ???
    Oh no you haven't qualified!

Winning games isn't everything in tournament football.... Ask Portugal (won 0/4 in 90 mins & yet in 1/4 Finals)

Any English supporter who thinks they are gonna win any tournament is a complete tit.... The premier league is full of overpaid primadonnas who haven't got an ounce of loyalty. They'll all be jetting off to some amazing holiday destination now not giving a flying **** about the real supporters who've saved up for a couple of years to witness such ****.

As for 'hapless' ... Surely if England are so ****e (true) you must have been unlucky to lose to them?
    Hence 'hapless' ??

At least I was at Wembley when England won the World Cup in 1966 .......

As for success, I think I know a little something about that personally......

As for the respective success of England & Wales at football, look at the respective populations ... Oops forgot that Iceland has fewer people than Cardiff.......

But hey, if you can't recognise a tongue in cheek remark, or don't have the wit to smile, then that's your problem.<cheers>

If it's all about population I'm sure China will be favourites for the next World Cup.
As for banter & wit etc etc... As a forces person, I live & thrive it but people like Phill just spoil it.
It's people like him that have ruined banter in the forces... As we are now all told "there is a difference between banter and provocation"

One more than England in the last 10 years not bad for a team who fail to qualify.

It's a pity that Euro 1976 had a changed format, with only the final 4 reaching the "Finals format".

We won Group 2, winning 5 out of 6 games - but the 8 group winners went into a home & away Quarter Final knockout format.

We lost 0-2 away in Yugoslavia, and then drew 1-1 at Ninian Park (I was there!) - we weren't helped, to say the least, by a certain Rudi Glockner the East German ref.

So, in reality, we did qualify - so not entirely correct that 1958 was the last time we did anything "special"<cheers>

The fact you lost in the 'qualifying playoffs' means in fact you DIDNT qualify.
    History tells you so :emoticon-0148-yes:

I agree... They shouldn't muck about with the formats. If it works... Stick by it.

WC82 England got 'knocked out' without losing a game ?!?
How the **** does that work???

I agree that we didn't qualify for the final four - the point I am making, which I think you've agreed with in your follow-up post is that, had there been no reduction to only 4 teams, then having won our Group, and only winners got through, we would have qualified! <cheers>

By the way, England came second in their group, so didn't make the Quarter Finals.

In reality wales only have one player that could get into the England team as England have much better individual players but if you have a rubbish manager who cant mould the team to play as a team then you wont go far. if they had had a manager like sir Bobby Robson they could go far but they keep employing rubbish managers every time and paying them outrageous money at the start of their manages job instead of increasing their wages when they win something and that way they wont waste their money...

In reality England has no players that would get into the Welsh team. The reason is the last word in the sentence, team! The Welsh players are a team, England players are a bunch of individuals. And it appears to work as we are still there.

Since in the Premier , argueably, we started out with our " Best Players " last season and by Christmas had our worst team . Oops , lost the plot but the fact remains , Wales is a true " Team" ,

Nobody is rubbishing the wales team here.....my point is player for player England have 10 players and more to chose from that are better players individually, only bale is better than any of them and would be good enough to be selected. They don't have the right manager and have not had a good manager for years. Wales have been in the same boat where we have had great individual players like rush, sparky. Saunders. speed Giggs and a few more i could mention who were all great individual players but we never had a manager who could gel the team as a unit and it wasn't until someone like speed came in and had vision and started to change the way we operate and fair play to Coleman he has carried on the same way. England with all the players they have to choose from need a manager who will change the philosophy of the way England operate and they will be a force to be reckon with and not a nearly team that they have been since 1966....they have the players they have never had a manager....
