I know, really frustrating but something we have to deal with I suppose. Kuyt's nightmare continues today. 3-3 S***
I hope KK gets on the phone with DC and gets the numbers to Cahill, Dann, Enrique, and Cissokho pronto because our backline needs some serious sorting out. Or whoever else we have been linked with.
Ech, last minute goal not as important as signs of betterness. If I twittered I'd be onto JH to demand he double Aqua's ridiculously high wage.
Also have been conceding a lot of late goals throughout the entire pre-season as well, I think each game we have given up goals in added time.
I've been on all summer about our need for a new centre back, if not 2! LB is obviously another position that needs addressing
Agreed. Still some serious problems do need to be addressed or rather re-addressed. Aqua was the hgihlight no doubt.
Yound and raw or old and injured isn't enough. Got to have that compeition in there for spots too, hopefully find the right combination.
what did you guys think about agger today? i thought he did well enough in defence (but i missed the first half) and was good with the ball and in the opponents box, and whoever said he seems more of a threat than caroll seems to have bbeen correct
Couldn't watch the game but it sounded like there were some positives. Aquilani seems to be doing well in pre-season and I hope he isn't sold. Still some defensive issues to sort out but i'm sure the club will sort that out.
Sebastian coates (CB) and Juan Zuniga ( RB/LB) would be helpful back there as well. 3 goals a game is a lot, regardless of who is playing.
Defense is definitely a concern. Dann would be good to get, his loyalty would never be in doubt (he was a liverpool season ticket holder), but my worry would be his long list of injuries for such a young player (24?). We've also been linked with Shawcross. I'd snap him up in a heartbeat. English (not necessary but desirable), 23 years old, 6'3" and loves to takle. Been a premiership regular for years and so has the experience to step up to a bigger platform. I again agree that we are desperate for a left back. Anyone will do at the moment! I was once more impressed with Aquilani today - shades of Torres before his move, perhaps? I would prefer to keep him, obviously - I rate him very highly - but doesn't look like he will stay, though. Hope we show futher improvement against Valencia. YNWA
Regarding Andy Carroll,I reckon we've seen the beginning of things to come. As for the game overall,it was an intense work-out that will put us in good stead. Lets not forget they are already in their season. We're not near their level yet and won't be until at least the middle of September. Yet to a large degree we matched them. I don't think the penalty they got was a penalty. There is still work to be done, still mistakes to be ironed out. I'm not all that bothered. Its all about fitness at the moment. Today I saw the reason why Kenny identified Henderson,he's got that energy we're going to need in Gerrards absence.,
Missed the whole game. Can someone give me an overview please? We let 3 more in? What the hell is going on?
Much better second half until the last minute goal kind of deflated it. Had the instinct to come back and win which is good to see to, unfortunetly didn;t hold on in the end. I don't think this game will split views like Hull or all negative like Galatassary but the defensive issue still lingers from the very first game of pre-season. As long as we sort it out by the start of the season then this will have been beneficial in that aspect as it showed where we need to be strengthened and there not have been a false sense of security back there.
Agger was very good, almost as impressive as Aquaman. Aquilani pretty much set up both his goals and, perhaps, should have had two himself. Question: was Carroll on when Aquilani got on or was he replaced? I can't remember.
