Well if anyone could bankrupt the FA, Redknapp could. Won't happen though because he can't read, write, or do maths. What he can do is wind down car windows and chat with journalists and there isn't much call for that in the England job. Mind you, the FA chief Executive did say he wasn't a football man, so perhaps he would fit right in, because the combination of a crook and someone who knows nothing about football seems to fit the direction of the FA.
I wondered how long it would take for someone to mention that. I have purposefully not mentioned it. He wrote a manual for the FA but they didn't want him implementing everything. Let's hope they have forgotten.
What a difference to Conte, who almost kicked the ball out of the ground when one of his players miscontrolled the ball when Italy were under a bit of pressure from Spain. I hate to think what his blood pressure would have been if Italy had played just half as badly as England!
Quite like the idea that the FA want the considered opinion of Gary Lineker. He says nothing on MOTD, but is one of the smartest observers in football and is not afraid of providing an opinion. He's also smart enough not to include himself in wanting to manage England, supposing that he was even qualified for the job.
I'm going to admit that I laughed. Mind you, I've seen a fair few underwhelming performances from England over the years, dating back to 1967 when Scotland beat England 3-2 at Wembley, a year after England were World Champions. So there are plenty of those performances in the England CV, and they're not the glaringly obvious ones. I suspect our lack of annoyance might have a clue in our avatars.
If there is any chance that Wenger is interested in the job, then he MUST be given it. If that means Southgate as an interim until Wenger is free then so be it.
Listen, it's tough as a country with a sizable population to lose to one whose population can fit in the stadium. But at least for you it's considered an upset. Take heart that you're not, say, ranked below the Faroe Islands and St. Kitts and Nevis in the world rankings. Yet! Signed, Canada
England players don't earn any money from playing for their country. Their wages are given to charitable causes.
Team back today. So I'd just like to to say welcome to Fraiser & Ryan, put the euros to the back of your mind and get yourself a good break. Very excited to see you back in late preseason.
At least they can console themselves that they weren't involved much. They should enjoy their holibobs but don't go near sheer drops or sharp objects.
Wonder where this leaves Dave Watson. A little while ago, the FA wanted him permanently...don't know whether he is interested or not. So is he seen as an FA appointee or as part of Hodgson's unsuccessful team?
