Racing today comes from RIPON, NEWTON ABBOT, WINDSOR, CARLISLE, CORK and NAAS.

As it's Herman Melville's birthday, I thought I'd break a solemn promise I made to myself after the last hunt season, where I decided to keep away from jumping, and plunge back in, just for the time being. I'm a weak bastard. So, what has all this to do with Melville? Well buggered if I know actually. Anyways, I stumbled across a bloke who has only one ride at Naas and one other at Cork. In the latter, the top one in the first race, Burma Rock makes an appearance. Making his first attempt over obstacles this time in, he was backed from 25-1 into 10-1 at Kilbeggan. He came from mid field to be challenging for third, three fences out, when he was brought down. At 45-1 on Betfair he seems amazing value, even if he has to compete in the charge of the light brigade.

    All comments and naps welcome.

    RIPON.
    15:15 San Cassiano. GDC. <cracker> Won 7-2. Napped at 8-1. <cracker>

    15:45 Gallagher. Waywardlad.

    NEWTON ABBOT.
    15:30 That'll Do. Degs. <applause> SECOND 5-2.

    WINDSOR.

    CARLISLE.
    18:55 Saloon. The Man.

    CORK.
    14:35 Burma Rock. EW cyc.
14:35 Buy Back Bob. Oddy. <applause> SECOND 7-1.

    NAAS.

Scrolling through the thread reveals some wonderful work by the team. Well done! <applause>

    Good Morning all,

Some nice prospects today, unusual for a Monday. I like the look of 2 today and have been told one will run well:

Best bet of the Day for me runs in the 315 Ripon. San Cassiano has run some very nice races this season and deserves to get his head back in front. He teams up today with the Norths best jockey (Phil Makin) and on the only other occasion he has rode this horse they won at Ripon! 8s looks way too big and he will get backed.

My record with MIkael Magnusson's horses is outstanding and tonight he sends out Broken Eagle in the 810 Windsor. His horses very rarely need a run so if the money comes for this horse take heed. 20s has been taken by this shrewdie :emoticon-0100-smile

I have been told to have a few quid EW on Just Five 755 Carlisle and have done so but it looks a competitive event however the in form Julie Burke takes off a handy 5lbs.

Finally in the 740 Windsor i am torn between Pats Legacy and CD winner Uncle Fred, the former ran in a nice race LTO so is the selection. Have done a RFC though also.

Be Lucky all who play <ok><cheers>

3.15 Ripon- San Cassiano 8/1- Two tries in very competitive handicap company recently, and now beautifully handicapped for a front-running display back down two grades into a class 4. Mark of 78, 2lb lower than when narrowly reeled in at Newcastle.

3.45 Ripon- Midnight Martini e.w 14/1- Ran in some competitive races this season up to Listed level, drops down 3lb to a mark of 88 here today, and judged on his neck 2nd defeat to Amitola off 91 at Newcastle and being a 2L 5th of 20 behind Hoof It at York off 91, that puts him well in the mix for this class 3 handicap at Ripon. His draw isn't too bad- stall 8 gives him the opportunity to join the favoured side should Tom Eaves choose.

5.15 Ripon- Hurlingham 9/1 (NAP)- Very well handicapped and signs his turn is near last twice, staying on and just missing out on a place. Gibbons stays on him this time and should know a lot more about how to get the best out of this fella. Think he has a good e/w chance today.

2.35 Cork Buy Back Bob (NAP) - very interesting recruit for Tony Martin over hurdles, was rated 94 on the flat. The favourite looks very short to me at 10/11 and the 6/1 on Buy Back Bob looks a good e/w bet to nothing.

    Good luck everybody <ok>

    Afternoon All

After taking 33/1 on Scott Stallings before the start of the 3rd round of the Greenbier Classic, I'll see if the luck is still with me and nap the following for today :

3.45 Ripon Gap Princess 16/1 (Paddy Power) - Think it won this race last year or the year before, not shown much so far this year but think its a decent each way at the price

    Cheers Trevez

Afternoon, all. Hope everyone is well.

I won't go on some more about God's own racecourse, Newton Abbot, not staging a selling hurdle yet again today. However, would love to know why they have had such a change of policy re these races this term.

Tonight up at old Carlisle then sees an intriguing 'social experiment' and whilst some may consider it dappy as a wise old sage once told me 'the 5/1 winner of a ladies race pays the same as the 5/1 winner of a Group 1'. Something to ponder there, methinks, but despite this learned piece of wisdom will advise that it’s a 'no bet' one for me today.

Good luck to all who do strike a wager though.

  10. 2.45 Ripon BELLMERE 16/1 Drops into Selling and Class 6 Company, first time in a seller, however, his last run in Class 6 Company over 5f was off a 10lb higher rating. Stable are going well and if he runs to his mark he is in with a cracking EW shout.

3.45 Ripon GALLAGHER 14/1 NAP has been racing in much better company than is on show here today and even has 3 places in Group 1 and 2 Company. He gets in here today for his new stable off a cracking mark of 95 and is straight away dropped back to 6f. One thing is for sure Dandy Nicholss knows how to win FTO and this one at his best is more than capable of winning this and is well over priced at 14/1 and is without deserving of a decent EW bet.

5.15 Ripon HURLINGHAM 9/1 no need to repeat what has already been stated by Topclass.
