Here, here or is it hear, hear either way he will be sadly missed, Sports Personality of the Century in 2000. Also the Greatest boxer I have ever seen, although I only got to see him fight once live. So many of my heroes have died in the first six months of this year, terrible sign of getting old.
Another stellar performance by England rugby union team down under, a 7-23 win for a 2-0 lead in the test series. Brilliant defending, great stuff.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1330059/ This used to be on YouTube but I can't find it now. A superb documentary from Frazier's perspective. It shone a light on the Ali (to an extent) 'myth'. At the time he was a racist, making comments because of Frazier's darker skin he resembled "a gorilla", it was really dispicable how he treated Frazier, who upset, took it with tremendous dignity to his dying day. Juxtaposing the story going on in the background with the fight, it's a wonderful and enlightening film.
Am loving the State of Origin match from Brisbane - Qld leading NSW 10-4 at ht. I really don't know how those guys keep up the intensity - I'm shattered just watching.
It's Rugby League - and at the highest level. I guess it's not for me to tell you what to take an interest in, but if you like Rugby League, it's well worth watching. And Queensland triumphed 26-16.
A nice flat first stage in the Tour de France today, but already there has been a spillage or two. Go round a sharp bend at speed, get it slightly wrong and you finish up with some very painful grazes at the very least.
Mark Caverndish wins the first stage of the Tour de France in a sprint finish. He will wear the yellow jersey tomorrow for the first time. There was a large pile up in the final sprint, and some of the riders looked pretty bad after it. Tomorrow they only have to cover 183 kms.
Came up short against a strong server - maybe coming to the end of his great career? Murray to win in 4? Not a Hamilton fan.. They have very different personalities. Murray very much the professional sportsman who wants to concentrate on winning whereas Lewis does like to make headlines on and off the track. Still cannot complain - they are real world class sportsmen and we need a few after the football!
Murray has come a lonf way from his early "hate the English" days and I hope he wins. Lewis Hamilton is a bit of a nob - but he's OUR nob
