John Percy reporting that Watford calling a board meeting tomorrow to discuss the future of Deeney. Deeney apparently is insisting he wants to talk with us, and we are preparing a 3rd bid of up to £30m within the next 48 hours. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...y-to-spend-30million-on-watford-skipper-troy/
Looks like Deeney will be coming in. Massive upgrade on Okazaki but he still isnt worth £30M in a million years Would Vardy, Deeney, Okazaki and Ulloa be enough or do we want 1 more striker?
Personally I don't see Deeney as an upgrade on Okazaki ... he's a very different type of player... plus you don't become your country's top international goals scorer by being bang average (OK let's leave Rooney out of the debate ) ... Shinji has had an excellent first season in the Prem and I expect him to be even better this one coming ... but I can see Leo Ulloa possibly leaving and Ahmed Musa ... or someone similar in playing style being added... Exciting times...
Is he worth 30 Million – not at all. The only positive I can see is that it should help us negotiate a much higher release clause fee for Vardy’s new contract (if one is included at all). But he is exactly the type of player we need. We have proven that the right mentality is the key to success. Here we are giving a player the chance to step up and play in the CL. Troy has a great eye for goal and pace, he can hold the ball up well and will give us a new dynamic. He will grab this opportunity with both hands and with Vardy beside him I am hopeful that he will want to make his own miracle story: perhaps scoring at the Nou Camp???
I agree - this is taking the mick. Are we willing to make him one of the most expensive footballers ever?
... to put it intosome perspective ... Chelsea are apparently considering paying £57 million for the 29 year old Italian wing back Candreva ... and possibly a similar amount for Bonucci ... who is also 29 ... Deeney will go under the radar for less tha £30 m ... welcome to the big time!
Tbf yes it's a lot but look at our recruitment - I'm happy that we pay what's required to bring the the right players than turn them down and get in the wrong player (a cheaper alternative) for say £20m who isn't right.
Deeny on Twitter tonight. Funny how a couple of days ago I had left for 30 million and today I'm signing a new contract if you don't know nothing keep quiet thanks
Nothing done according to the follow up I ent signed nothing just more nonsense stories coming out about me lad
Not a bad player would be a help in the team but NOT at this stupid price, if we are going to pay £30m out then there are some world class players available at that price we should be looking at first.
