Maybe I'm being a bit too negative, I don't know, but right now the only England player who I think would get in the top 2 or 3 teams in Europe is Eric Dier.
Players like Dier don't come along very often. He can defend and attack and reads the game brilliantly. If he get's injured we're stuffed. Awesome.
Not many teams have a player like Vardy to choose from. We've got a hell of a bench. Our full backs would get into most teams you'd think.
None of them would. Dier is playing very well and might make a squad of 23 but he wouldn't get a starting shirt for Germany, Spain, France, Italy or Croatia.
Whereas the player in every position for each of those nations would definitely get into the England side?
Considering Croatia has a population of just over 4m, they've got a hell of a starting XI... Subasic - Monaco Srna - Shakhtar Donetsk Jedvaj - Bayer Leverkusen Vida - Dynamo Kyiv Strinic - Napoli Badelj - Fiorentina Kovacic - Real Madrid Brozovic - Dinamo Zagreb (on loan at Inter last season) Rakitic - Barcelona Perisic - Inter Milan Mandzukic - Juventus
Giaccherini wouldnt get in on ability / form but then we dont play a system with wide midfielders anyway. Darmian definitely wouldnt get in our team, but he wont be getting in the Italy team from now on either so its a moot point. I dont think our full backs are better than those of Germany.
The Brozovic loan thing is just an FFP fudge, he's owned by Inter but they put the costs into a later year. But yeah back on point, it's a terrific line-up and you even missed Modric their best / most famous player.
Its a fair point - but surely Iceland's achievements so far (with a population similar to the size of Hull) is even more amazing.
It is a great achievement, though they haven't a prayer of winning, whereas Croatia have. They're probably the only International team ever, to have almost their entire team born in the same city (mainly because they only have one city).
I think we should be looking at Croatian clubs for up an coming players, Jurgen Klopp recently said it is a tough league where players develop the skills needed for the premiership. Back to the question, Joe Hart, and sturridge have the quality and pedigree to get in most teams. Dier in a couple of years could be there too, needs more then one great season.
Joe Hart is not only not as good as, he's not in the same stratosphere as Neuer, Lloris, De Gea or Buffon.
