I didn't think bringing Rashford on when he did was the right decision. But it worked out. I wouldn't have brought Sterling to the Euros let alone start him. So long as Roy learns that one now after 2 games when he's been ****e.
All England managers get the same treatment. If he's not picking players from your team he's useless. Just ask West Ham fans.
Thunder storm in full flow over Southanpton now. So glad I took the afternoon off with to watch it now. Buzzing.
The only man who could make those subs? Roy. He made the subs, at the right time. Well done, Roy. Now learn the lessons and let's go and beat Slovakia.
Not saying that at all. He did, at last, what he should be doing from the start. Everybody and their pets have seen that the side he had on after the first two subs came on were the right starting team to have on the pitch. I don't give much credit to people who eventually come to their senses and do the bleeding obvious.
Indeed. You've got Andros Townsend at home on fire and he leaves him out. Danny Drinkwater is another who is missed. If people insist on having Wilshere then leave Milner at home.
Yes, we should beat Russia and qualifying out of the group was the main aim for most Welsh fans so anything else will be a bonus. I wasn't even watching the game and I'm knackered! I'm looking forward to cuddling kittens at my Cats Protection committee meeting tonight to get rid of the disappointment
The criticisim is that Roy picked the same team that struggled to unlock Russia and unsurprisingly nothing changed first half. With the front three all struggling again. Being behind almost forced his hand. If Bale had not scored, you wonder if Roy would have waited longer or not. FairPlay he actually did something, but it's hard to gush with praise
I think some people forget how awful some ex England managers have been. Roy is far from perfect but does show a little sense and flexibility occasionally. He also showed a decent turn of speed when we scored!
After the Russia game I said Sterling couldn't pass, tackle, shoot or dribble. But he could run very fast with the ball in a straight line. Today he couldn't even do the last one. How bad does he have to be to left out of the starting team?
I feel physically drained! People still won't give Roy credit ? 2 subs at ht, 3 strikers all 3 subs... brave substitutions that a lot of people wouldn't of made, and it paid off. Give the man some credit ffs!! Sterling shouldn't start again for me, impact sub at best for me. I'd be tempted to drop Kane as well if we're going to persist with 1 up top.
He's taken more risks (squad and substitutions), which everyone said they were crying out for, than a lot of the previous managers . He's not perfect (who is?) but England are not the world beaters some think. Positive double substitution at HT which a lot of managers would have waited longer before doing.
