    Hi

I really dont rate Forte at all, yeah he scored a decent goal yesterday but for me he is no good for us, we have much much better players to choose from.

On the signings front, I hope we do the swap plus cash for Puncheon this week, I think him and Fonte will be class at the back and hopefully get him in before Saturday.

Not too bothered about another striker (yet) Connolly has been on excellent form and can wait till later in the window for a striker.

    What do you all think??

I think Forte is a good player to have as an impact sub. Pace and presence, and don't forget we wouldn't be in the Championship if it wasn't for his double against MK Dons.

I don't think we'll accept the swap + cash deal.

I reckon we'll sign a CB none of us expected.

I also reckon that Connolly is ace, but we'll still see a new striker enter the building before the end of the window.

What are people basing their Forte bashing on? He's a good backup for the CHAMPIONSHIP, its hardly the Champions League, are people expecting us to have 5 Ronaldos in our squad or what?

Do not need another striker, we need a CB. Nigel is a fan of Forte and got him a long contract, but doesn't play him that much, which suggests he didn't fit into our winning team at the end of last season. However, Nige may yet get the best out of him. Always be grateful for 2 goals against the Dons, so prepared to give him a chance. Probably going to play from bench, won't get many starts.

On the transfers front, a lot of speculation about permanent signings, but I reckon we'll get a youngster in on loan too. Agree with JDub, Forte gives us a good option and can score crucial goals. However, I feel he may be one of the people to lose out with the reduction of bench numbers.

To be fair, Forte has hardly been able to prove himself yet, last season he started barely any games and any appearance off the bench was only for a few minutes. Yes he scored the two goals against MK Dons which we are all grateful for but apart from that he didn't do much else in that game. I think he's got potential, he sort of reminds me of when Michail Antonio first joined the club, very raw but with his pace and power he is a dangerous player for any team.

Yes we would. We came second in the league by a clear 5 points.

When we first signed Forte and NGuessian I saw them come on as subs. Instantly I thought NGuessian was garbage, but saw the odd flash from Forte against Leeds and thought "maybe". He hasn't had chance to have a run in the team, however if made to make a decision on him now (taking his age in to consideration) I'd say he isn't going to be the player we wan him to be. He has bags of pace but I don't think he is strong "mentally" and without being rude, he doesn't come across as having a good football brain.

So for now, use him when others unavailable, but I can't see him on the bench of five if all fit an well.

Whilst he won't get on the teamsheet ahead of Lala, Oxo or even De Ridder (after he has acclimatised) I am pleased we have him, and Holmes for that matter, as they could prove to be useful this season. Oxo will get targeted surely and teams will know all about Lallana so somewhere along the line I expect a knock or two will occur and whoever comes in will want to impress.

And from a purely selfish point of view he is lighting quick on Fifa! That said so is De Ridder, and Oxo cube will get improved next year too - who to have on the wing? I will know how the gaffer feels with all these selection dilemmas!

Well done! Was MK dons our last game though? No. So, do you think if we had lost that game that there would be no knock on effect? Maybe it wouldn't have happened.

He is a squad player and that's exactly how Adkins is using him and whilst you want a little fight Forte seems happy to have that role.

    Take Puncheon as an example;

Chamberlain forced his way into the side by impressing when coming off the bench at the start of last season. Puncheon was not having the best time of it and lost his place, but rather than trying to get it back it seems he went on a strop and got loaned out.

My point is that you're hardly likely to have a world beater as a Championship reserve player. I think we'd all agree Puncheon is a more talented player than Forte and although an extreme case he was not willing to be an impact sub for a league one side, whilst Forte was. So i'd rather have a player who wants to be here and although not the greatest has the ability to do something during the course of a season and potentially when us a game of football or two.

I'm happy with Forte being on the bus, wouldn't let him drive it though!

Alright guys and girls, I've been trolling for a while so thought I better start contributing!

I think Forte can offer something this season, with blistering pace he's got the opportunity to claim his place in the match day squad if they can work on his end product! I'm sure the coaching staff will be working hard with him in training! He's got the unpredictability factor that I've missed since Papa Waigo returned to Italy!

Forte is okay - why are people getting on his case? He's not Wayne Rooney, nor a Drogba - we got him because we had a shortage of strikers on the final run-in to the end of last season, he was lanquishing on the bench and be was bought to be a rotational squad player. Adkins liked him at Scunthorpe; clearly feels he has something to offer - so what is the problem? I really hope he surprises us all and has a great season as an impact sub and bags us 10 goals!

He only got two starts! I know what you mean though, he is firmly stuck behind Lallana, de Ridder and Oxo, and presumably Guly who will be more useful on our shortened bench...haven't even mentioned Holmes. He will definitely have to work hard to get opportunities this season. He's not the only one on that boat though, it's up to Nigel to keep them all on the bus.

What annoys me the most is that people decided Forte was a bad player before he even played for us. I must admit I wasn't sure about him when we signed him but he has surprised me. It's not that he is a bad player, he is just inconsistent and if he finds that consistency, we have a good player on our hands that can produce moments of magic as shown yesterday.

Well said to both SH-qwerty and sfc94 for the positive comments. He will struggle to get a game looking at the strength in depth on the bench.
