Not very often I back odds on but A Shin Hikari looks a dead cert in the 4.20, big bet on this for me.
Very tough days racing to pick through at Ascot. Jersey Stakes 2.30 Remarkable ran on late to follow Log Out Island home last time at Newbury. He was the only one to come from the back in that race and should be suited to this step up seven furlongs. Queen Mary Stakes 3.05 There is quite a few of these who should be progressive and judging which ones will progress the furthest is a though assignment. Roly Poly is quite interesting having won a maiden nicely on debut. She went on to finish four behind Caravaggio next time out. She wasn't given a hard race that day and will hopefully show more here. Vona sprung a shock at York to beat Boater. Clem Fandango looks a solid contender having been won one and finished second twice in her three starts. Kachess won very easily 12 days ago and gets turned out quickly for this. Duke of Cambridge Stakes 3.40 Lucida ran well here last year in the Coronation Stakes. One of her best performances came when finishing second to Legatissimo in the 1000 Guineas last year. Her reappearance wasn't anything special but hopefully it will have brought her up to speed for this. Prince of Wales's Stakes 4.20 It's very hard to oppose A Skin Hikari in this. Royal Hunt Cup 5.00 Pass. Sandringham Stakes 5.35 Anamba was a useful two year old beating Coolmore on debut and finishing second to her on her other start. She won a listed race at Naas on her reappearance and she sets a good standard for this race. If she continues to progress she will take alot of beating. Happy punting.
**** A Shin Hikari, My Dream Boat will reverse the placings tomorrow. I didn't get a chance to back him at chantilly, and i've backed him 3 times out of the last 4 (missed it when it ran at newmarket luckily) and he's won everytime, and the horse's name has a special meaning for me. So yeh **** you japan, me and my dreamboat are coming for ya and mark my words we shall be victorious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5pm Ascot - Librisa Breeze, this is a serious horse and Ivory rates it as his 2nd best after tropics, gets in off a low bottom weight and they think the world of it, will run a huge race @ 25/1 Another one who sneaks in at the bottom of the handicap is Gay Kellaway's YEAH BABY YEAH in the 5 35, she too thinks the world of this horse and has high hopes, and she was really disappointed that Josephine Gordon couldn't ride it as she wanted to give her an Ascot winner. She's got a top american jockey in Velazquez on board though, so should run a huge race @ 50/1 Thikrayaat in the 2 30 is another massively overpriced at 12/1, unbeaten and will run a big race Jule in the Crown should provide Mr Mick with an Ascot winner which he deserves after the last few weeks, huge price @ 25/1 with the main man SDS onboard
The ground at Ascot is a huge advantage to Andre Fabre’s Usherette, proven with plenty of give underfoot and winner of the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket last time in a race that featured last year’s victor Amazing Maria. Behind in the Dahlia was favourite that day Jazzi Top, touched off in last year’s Prix de l’Opera, the best form on offer. Will she put her best foot forward over this trip? Always Smile is an improving filly taking a big step up in class but the ground is an unknown. The ground is certainly against Jim Bolger’s Lucida and much of the rest of the field simply are not good enough. A select field faces the starter in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes thanks to the going, with Japanese Prix d’Ispahan winner A Shin Hikari looking to add to his European tally. Whilst he was impressive that day (My Dream Boat well beaten), his principal opponents got stuck in the mud so the ten length margin of victory ought not to be taken at face value. It is difficult to fancy The Grey Gatsby on his seasonal bow and his career win record is not very good (including unlucky defeat in this last year). Another who struggles to get his head in front now is Western Hymn. There is surely no way that Tryster can win on this ground and Found has been messed about so much by her trainer that she looks difficult to find a win. With no prospect of Ascot really drying up, the rest of the meeting is looking like a no bet.
5.00 ASCOT- BASEM - 33/1 ew A horse with not a lot of racing for a 5yo although no way near as good as his brother Farrh - he is still a very good horse and not seen since underperforming in a listed race at Goodwood he still has potential to improve gave a couple of very decent performances last year to prove he can most certainly out run his odds - goes extremely well fresh so this could be his race and should handle the ground A lot better than most of the field - good jockey on board and there are a lot worst 33/1 bets on a day that could throw up some big winners
Away from Ascot, there's a couple that take the eye at Hamilton. 3.20 Swirral Edge 3.55 Weld al Khawaneej Might have a little bit of interest in those. Good Luck.
Yeah Baby Yeah ran 4th at Lingfield for me a while back when I was on at 100/1 e/w- a sapping soft ground test might bring out he best of her and il follow you on that 50/1
2.30 Ribchester 8/1 3.05 Kokoladda 20/1 3.40 Always Smile 8/1 (on at 14s) 4.20 Found 4/1 (Class Bet) 5.35 Anamba 9/1 NAP Planchart 40/1 e/w
been told Always Smile will run well meanwhile over the river James looks set to dominate at Auteil. Bleu Alur Saine Et Speed Dour De Kerbah Beguin D'estraval small stakes lucky and EW acca just in case then he's off to sort them Ruskies out stay Frosty
I agree with Found. She's in and out but good enough to mop up in a weak field in this Japanese horse fails to perform.
Dubai Millennium the only horse to make all in the Prince Of Wales in the last 20 years, didnt look back any further so could be longer. The Jap horse is good, was some performance in Hong Kong, but he doesnt seem the type to take it easy in a race and he might have left something in that non event at Chantilly with most of the field half fit on wrong ground and the jockey whipping him when 10 clear in a bog. This will be the stiffest test by far he has faced in terms of this track on that testing ground and he could be a sitting duck in the straight for Moore to deliver Found who didnt look right last time before the race and has run her best races here. 4/6 against 4/1 is a no brainer.
Swerving bets at Royal Ascot after yesterday's embarrassment, will watch the fashions . See my favourite (and only) little cliff horse, the mare Icanmotor, goes again in a Mares' Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter today (16:45). Can't quite figure out why trainer Dyson has put her in a Class 4 when she can't even win a Class 5? Maybe because she's a bit scared of the fellahs and might do better running with the girls? Anyway, I'll have a bit e/w on her again, S/P certainly looks the best way to go. Then base jump over the cliff (promises, promises)....
2:30 Ascot - Haalick 14/1 3:05 Ascot - Kachess 8/1 3:40 Ascot - Jazzi Top 15/2 4:20 Ascot - The Grey Gatsby 9/1 (pretty much the only horse I'd back with Spencer on) 5:00 Ascot - Mr Owen 20/1 5:35 Ascot - Aljuljalah 16/1 Small stakes ew lucky 63 for a bit of interest seeing as I've got the afternoon off work
Taken up Skybets 100/1 ew 5 places on YEAH BABY YEAH. That's about all for me today really, nothing jumping out.
