Is it jut me then cause I think our first six fixtures are really difficult... City a. New manager City well up for it. Boro h.Newly promoted club well up for it. S'ton a. New manager they will be well up for it. S'ton h. New manager well up for it. Spurs a. We always get sucked at WHL. Palace h.The Pardue/wickam effect like last season. Don't think weve been dealt a fair hand at all, away games 1st & last, Manure and bin dippers again around Christmas. I know we have to play them all at sometime during the season but think we won't get loads of points on the board early doors, just my opinion.
Looks like a reasonable mix. Vital we get the points kickstarted with the home fixtures. Whether it will happen or not is a different matter altogether but it looks possible to pick up a few.
Its a fixture list against premier league teams - has to be a great thing regardless of the running order.
There's 20 teams in the league. You're going to play the 19 other teams twice. Beyond that I'm never too fussed.
First 6 home games are great apart from Arsenal, but away where will we get our first point ?. Cannot complain though we could have been playing Burton ! Need to win 4 out of 6 at home. And where is Newcastle's fixtures are they out.
Disagree, I think a decent run of games against "easier" teams can be massively beneficial in terms of increasing team spirit and confidence (providing you get the results, of course). I think Leicester's easy start last season was a huge contributing factor to them winning league...
Then you end up relying on three miracles in a row year-on-year to somehow survive against all the odds... How on earth we're not playing Championship football is actually beyond me
Cos Villa and the NE1 Orcs self imploded. Oh and Defoe. I honestly thought last season was a step to far for quite a while.
That all looks quite balanced to me. And I don't see any particularly hard months/periods with a run of really tough games, like we had last December, when the wheels can fall off and confidence damaged. No excuses fixture wise.
Couple of toughies at the end, but not too bad to round off the season. Hopefully, we won't be scrabbling for survival for once, come April. City away will be tough, but it's not a bad thing to chalk off a few of those early on.
Not a bad start and so pleased the early promoted team we play is derby match - evens the adrenalin surge of promoted teams despite it being more their derby than ours
That has been the problem the past few seasons. We would have a run of 'unwinnable' fixtures where we would pick up nil points. By the time the run of 'easier' games came along the fact that they were 'must win' games were too much of a burden on the players and supporters at the ground and we end up performing poorly. Hopefully with a different mindset and an even fixture list this season we might have a chance of mid table obscurity and not rely on pulling another miracle out of the bag at the last minute!
First game City away could be good for us. An 8-0 drubbing. Straight to the bottom of the league, and Sam can tell them they need to start the great escape - with 37 games to do it instead of 7. On the other hand. we sometimes do well there, so snatch a win and go on to do a Leicester.
Happy with that. Good chance to cement early season home form and make it the foundation of our season. Nail the home form and we should be safe nice and early. These fixtures give us the best chance of doing that. Very happy. Got a good feeling about this season.
