I would be happy with this, could be a good foil for Defoe if we play two up front, alternatively he can cope on his own as a loan striker.
West ham fans rate him. Sam famously didn't want to sign him and now he does, tells me everything I want to know. He proved Sams doubts wrong and won him over. He'll do for me.
We were linked with this lad last summer I believe. There's a talented player there for sure, when he's fit.
Similar not my favourates - apart from helping to dupe the Olympic stadium & footballing authorities - are very dodgy. But like Bri posted - our manager knows the football scene far more than us.
I've just been told by a hammers fan down the pub, so obviously it ain't worth jack-****, that we are completing the signing tomorrow.
Is no one else thinking "surplus to requirements.... £15m.... WHAT THE F........" If he's surplus and they no longer want him. He cost £4.5m then why is he worth 3 times that now? I have liked bits of what I've seen of him... But then again I said the same about n'doye before he signed!!
Really not happy with this at the prices being bandied about... He scored a bunch of tap-ins in his first couple of months in England and has done **** all in a year and a half since. £15m they're having a laugh surely - what are our scouts doing if they can't find a better alternative at that sort of money?!? It's not even like we need someone to hit the ground running either, Defoe is more than capable of seeing next season out as first choice striker.
Defoe's just one man. Do you really want to put all our eggs in one basket for another season? We need different options, to play different systems, against different teams. And this decision isn't about our scouts. This has got Sam's fingerprints all over it, if it happens that is.
Bit of horse trading going on and the numbers being bandies about is newspapers. If Bilic wants rid and has to sell before buying then 4-5mil will be nearer the mark.
Strength in depth. It's what we need in order to progress. Competition for places give us a headache Sam hasn't exactly had the past season. Defoe isn't getting any younger either. Also gives us options to play 2 up top if/when it suits. Big Sam has worked with him previously so will know whether he'll be the right fit for us. After his January signings (bar N'Doye) I'd be happy with this.
I'm not saying put all our eggs in one basket, but right now we are in the perfect position to take a bit of a gamble on a somewhat u known quantity, a la Mitrovic. The mags did it wrong, they expected him to lead the line from day 1. But we have defoe to carry the torch while our new guy settles, give him to adjust to the league, slowly blood him in as defoe can play less and less. We don't need proven prem quality right now - we have defoe for that. Why not take a punt on someone like Victor Janssen? A young lad who is in unbelievable form - almost a goal a game last year for club and country. Yes it's a risk but we're in quite a priveleged position where we can afford to take a risk like that. I for one would prefer that to paying well over the odds for "prem proven". What's Sakho proven anyway? He got a few tap-ins when he was first signed then faded badly. 6 league goals in 18 months, wow i hope we break the bank for him, such an exciting signing
Here we are. West Ham striker tells Slaven Bilic he wants to leave: Sunderland make improved £12m bid DIAFRA SAKHO has asked to leave West Ham after Sunderland made a £12million bid to sign the striker, according to reports. West Ham have been linked with a host of strikers to replace Sakho, with the club apparently lodging a fresh £32m bid to sign Lyon hotshot Alexandre Lacazette while also being credited with interest in Marseille's Michy Batshuayi and AC Milan's Carlos Bacca. It is claimed Sunderland have made a new £12m move to sign the Senegal international. Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is said to be an admirer of Sakho and signed the striker when he was West Ham boss in a £3.5m deal from Metz in the summer of 2014. Sakho enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League and was the Hammers' top scorer with 12 goals in 26 games, but endured an injury-hit campaign last term - scoring just seven goals. The Daily Mail claim Sakho has already spoken to Allardyce over a potential move and he is keen on the chance of playing regular football at the Stadium of Light. It is said Allardyce himself is eager to get a deal done quickly as he looks to bolster his attacking ranks ahead of next season. Despite Sunderland being the frontrunners in the race to sign Sakho, rivals West Brom and Crystal Palace are also said to interested. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-to-leave-Sunderland-improved-bid-News-Gossip
