Hi Guys, Saints fan in peace.i posted this on the Saints threads. What do you think of these predictions - surely you are better than 16th. I have you down for pushing for playoffs Good luck for the season http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...3102/Championship-2011-12-season-preview.html full preiction table 1. Leicester 2.Nottingham Forest 3.Middlesbrough 4.Blackpool 5.West Ham 6.Cardiff 7.Brighton 8.Ipswich 9.Portsmouth 10.Reading 11.Leeds 12.Derby 13.Southampton 14.Burnley 15.Birmingham 16.Hull 17.Watford 18.Crystal Palace 19.Barnsley 20.Bristol City 21.Millwall 22.Doncaster 23.Coventry 24.Peterborough Harsh on birmingham and hull. And saints to finish behind brighton and pompey. good assessment or not? would you be pleased with that final table?
It's not a great assessment. Notts Forest fans think they're weaker than they were last season, Cardiff have lost a lot of players, Leicester are an unknown quantity they've got that many players. Portsmouth 9th - why? Leeds 11th - they've hardly got enough players for amatch day squad. Looks like lazy journalism to me.
It's a trendy media thing to pretend we're ****. We finished 11th last season with no wingers, 1 striker and a crap midfield. We've sorted all of those things out this year and yet people think we're gonna get worse. Don't understand it. We're gonna have a proper crack at the playoffs this year, can't wait.
Very strange table. I'd have ourselves, Bristol, Southampton, Birmingham and Coventry to finish higher than suggested. Leicester top? Yeah right. Cardiff and Leeds are weaker than last year too. Don't quite know how they've worked out this table like they have.
yeah mate it is entirely true we are really poor.. let them believe it.. The Telegraph is rubbish for sport anyway, they're biased towards London clubs and Man U. My parents buy if cos like me they're expats and have a choice between that Tory dross and The Mail (more Tory dross) but The Times & Guardian are miles better for football, Telegraph is for rugger buggers and cricket.. I wouldn't be surprised if the journo who wrote that just glanced at our squad sheet and didn't recognize the young talent we have brought in, he probably also hasn't noted our pre-season.. To be fair 17 down seems about right, Leeds & Cardiff will struggle though and West Ham won't be happy with 5th even. As for the 3 south coast teams, I'm afraid I think Pompey will indeed finish the highest, but you've got Jason Puncheon in which will help. As for Brighton, I don't think they'll do as well as everyone is banging on about. Yes Poyet is animpressive manager but I'd say mid-table.. about the same as Saints. We "should" be looking at Top 10.
sorry, link should now be working this is what was said about hull Hull City There is huge pressure on Pearson to deliver promotion before the parachute payments run out. But with financial troubles continuing and Jimmy Bullard still proving impossible to shift, Hull remain a club in flux. Far too much talent in this squad to go down - you would think. Prediction: 16th
By the way - Pearson has huge respect from me. saved us from the drop a few seasons ago. The then saints board treated him really badly. i think he is a great manager and will do well.
Written by Jonathan Liew.. (who??) Hull City There is huge pressure on Pearson to deliver promotion before the parachute payments run out. But with financial troubles continuing and Jimmy Bullard still proving impossible to shift, Hull remain a club in flux. Far too much talent in this squad to go down - you would think. Prediction: 16th I will be saving this and come end of season send him this turd infested drivel back to him in an email. Where was he when the Allams took over? Has he seen the balance sheet? Do we look "in flux" on the field?
its only normal. cant expect someone to have in depth knowledge of that many teams. best not to get offended by idiots.
"The Daily Telegraph" Owned by the (very private!) Barclay twins, who live in the tax-avoiding Channel Islands. Staffed by and written for the kind of people who sincerely believe that, if the natives/fuzzy-wuzzies are restless, all we need do is send another gunboat, sort 'em out, What?! If "The Times" is "The Thunderer", the "The Telegraph" is "The Dreadnought". Fookin blimps!
theyre saying we could go down? utter dross, it actually makes me angry, theyre getting paid to write that. derby leeds and cardiff should definitely be in the bottom third!
Piss poor effort, from someone who knows **** all about the Championship. Bookmarked for future embarrassment.
if i had to write an article like that i would start with lists from a bookie or betfair. we are 13th in line for the title on betfair. the largest differences are that betfair has birmingham 10 places higher, southampton 7 places higher, portsmouth 6 places lower. the others are 5 or less places out.
