Were closing in on the Nice defensive midfielder according to reports in France Terms have been agreed and we close to agreeing a fee. People will say thats Kante gone then but Inler and James look likely to leave so he could be just adding depth
Lets be honest - Kante is leaving. Dunno about Inler or James - can see Inler staying for a season at least as we are in Europe while could see James either staying or being NP's first signing.
If we keep Vardy and Mahrez and recruit well Kante might be tempted to stay for 1 more year to see where we can go from here Both Mahrez and Kante have said they not interested in going back to France and so far only PSG have been seriously linked with Kante. So lets just see what happens
Im glad we are getting competition for places regardless of Kantes situation, we don't want him to leave the day before the the window shuts and be stuck without an adequate replacement. This is also the reason i don't see us getting rid of James before the window closes, if we have the numbers, we can loan him to Derby
From the little I know of this guy he's quite a different player to Kanté- more of a passer and less mobile, so it may be that he's not a replacement. Always good to improve the squad though, and better to have those options if our best players do get poached. He worked with Ranieri at Monaco, and is still only 23. Even if Kanté goes we could have Mendy, Inler, Amartey, and James to still play defensive midfield roles.
How much do you reckon you'd be selling James for? Be a good addition to any champ team, perhaps lower prem teams might come in for him as well.
Agree £1-2m, which is a steal seeming the way he finished the season last year before getting injured, could well have been keeping Drinkwater out this year if he hadn't picked up the injury. Still don't think we'd entertain permanent moves for him given the relative uncertainty of what players we will lose over the next few months.
I dont think James would have kept Drinkwater out. Ive always rated James but Drinkwater has always looked the better player
James is a DM - would play in Kante's position alongside Drinkwater. If he was fit he would have been 4th choice behind Kante, King and Inler.
If a championship team pays £2m for James that would be the signing of the season. Young-ish, English and very very good

It's vital we get a couple in such as mendy and Slimani who it seems we are haggling over money. Getting these guys who aren't involved in the euros in quietly whilst all that is going on could be the difference between tempting others to stay
... press reports suggesting deal very close to completion for a fee of around £9.5 million .. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/523335/Transfer-news-Leicester-Nampalys-Mendy
Off topic but on that article was a slideshow of Wales WAGs. Chris Coleman has punched way above his weight.
Reports are £9.5M - our record signing is Krameric at £9.7M http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36383546
