A reasonably strong Celtic starting XI took to the field against an Inter side still a few weeks away from starting their Serie A campaign.

It was another opportunity for Zaluska to cement his place as the Celtic number one. However, he did little to further his cause by being less than commanding and seeming to hesitate as Italian striker Pazzini bore down on his goal before lobbing him easily to put the Italian club two goals ahead. Inter had earlier opened the scoring courtesy of a fantastic finish by their new summer signing, Luc Castaignos.

The game was played in a competitive manner and both teams were guilty of niggly fouls and the occasional reckless challenge as well as a few off-the-ball tussles. Late in the first half Motta was guilty of a late tackle on Scott Brown which earned him a second yellow card and his marching orders.

Both teams had created good chances in the first half and it was only a string of good saves from Inter reserve goalkeeper Castellazi that allowed them to head into the break with their two goal cushion intact.

The 2nd half followed a similar pattern to the first with Inter happy to soak up the pressure and hit Celtic on the break. Celtic continued to test Castellazi but couldn't find a way past the big stopper.

As often happens in friendly games, there were a number of second half substitutions which interrupted the flow of the game but both Stokes and Hooper went close with Stokes' effort again being kept out by the veteran Italian goalkeeper.

Overall, a worthwhile run out for the Bhoys but the performance of Zaluska will leave Neil Lennon more than a little concerned about his last line of defence. He could do worse than make an enquiry to the Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini about the availability of his veteran reserve goalkeeper.

CELTIC: Zaluska; Cha (Matthews 67) K. Wilson, Loovens (Stokes 60), Izaguirre; Brown, Kayal, Ledley, Mulgrew; Maloney (Hooper 60); Samaras (McCourt 76)
